🧠Why 1-2-1 Personal Training As The Only Way Is A Myth.
The other day I was having a chat to a personal trainer who asked me why I was filming my sessions and I simply replied “because it pays the bills”. He looked sheepishly at me and said “ah online trainer?” And I said “something like that yes”. He then proceeded to tell me a list of reasons why online coaching and training doesn’t work and gave me a bunch of noise about 1-2-1 training etc. .
What was interesting was that the first question I asked him was “have you done online training yourself”? The answer was No.
I always find it interesting when someone wants to have an adult discussion with you about a topic which they themselves have never done. The truth is, I used the have exactly the same limiting beliefs all those years ago stuck in a gym full of trainers dreaming to have the option to work remotely if they wanted to.
It goes like this: thinking that people will laugh at you when you offer a program instead of services. This is another myth.
There is nothing to say that a program is less valuable than services, and to be quite honest, I think a program is way more valuable than services i.e 1-2-1 personal training. You think about how much time a trainer put’s into one client when they’re doing one on one or done-for-you. Imagine that amount of time you put into it. Now imagine the amount of time you put into a training program for everybody. Way more. I put thousands of hours into my training programs to make them absolutely the best they possibly can, and it's impossible for me to offer that much time to any one client. Really, my customers have a better training experience and a better experience going through my programs and systems than they would have working with me one on one, so thinking that a program is less valuable is stupid. It's ludicrous and actually comes down to a very poor world paradigm. For the last 3 years I have filmed every single workout I’ve ever done. That means rather than repeating myself over and over again and having good/bad days like all humans or missing something out I have created a system which works like a machine in consistent client results.
I meet with people every week - clients, friends, prospects, etc. The biggest common denominator is fear of failure. Or fear of judgement. It’s crazy. Here is to pushing through all that shit and making it happen. #thursdaythoughts

Then and now...
When Freya was a baby, her hypotonia was so severe that she could not even hold her mouth closed, let alone hold her head up or roll over. Even her laughs were weak - quiet gasps of joy that required little facial movements. *
I feared for her future. Would she walk? Talk? Ever be in control of her body? As the saying goes, “if I had known then...”
Sometimes, when Freya is excited and telling me about this or that and I just want it to be quiet for a moment, I remind myself that there was a time I wasn’t sure if she would ever speak intelligibly, if at all.
And when this girl dances, her moves express the strength and joy that she carries with her. *
So many parts of this journey are terrifying. There have been so many what-ifs and will-she-evers ...and to be clear, there still are. *
But to think back on the baby Freya was, and then to see and know her now - I have so much hope and faith that this girl is going to achieve what she is inspired to achieve.
