So we’ve moved the bedroom around already. This was the original placement I wanted for multiple reasons: wardrobes would suit better in the ‘nook’ on the opposite wall (can’t see here but see previous picture where bed was), the presence of seeing the bedhead when you walk into the room, the air conditioning isn’t straight over the bed in this layout, and most importantly (and one we only worked out after moving in), that diagonal picture window is lovely to look out from bed (so many trees!), but with the headboard opposite, the sun was coming straight in on our faces in the morning. Which yes is kind of lovely, but also a tad bright. We sleep with no blinds anyway, so we wake up with the light (and three children who rise with the sun), but on the weekends having a bit longer in bed in the morning wasn’t overly pleasant with the sun streaming in on our faces.
[ Progress ] shot of our front porch and front exterior project. Sometimes I hesitate to post the incomplete but really shouldn’t because it’s all a part of the process! My eyes immediately go to the wobbly and chipping away handrail and stairs plus the chipping eaves, when in reality there’s a lot more to celebrate here that is done. Windows and door completely given a facelift, new retractable screen door, and a cleaned up new porch light. The process continues on! 💪🏼
"So.. we saved up first and last months rent.. got a hotel one night in Toronto.. looked at exactly three apartments.. and luckily, the third place we looked at was the humble basement apartment we lived in for the next 7 years. We moved to Toronto with no jobs, and no job leads.. just two printed stacks of resumes we brought from home.. and we decided that we had one month to figure our shit out and get jobs, or we had to move back home." Sharing a GIGANTIC multiple post series on how I got started in design- as it's a question I've been getting a lot lately! Apologies in advance, it's a book. (Maybe someday it actually will be!). ✌🏻 #makemovesmakeover

Need something around to help keep kids in line this holiday season? Something that requires no additional work from parents... unlike a creepy elf on a shelf?
Well here you go! Two prints, that serve as festive decor AND as friendly reminders to kids of all ages. When my kids start fighting/whining/complaining/etc, all I have to do is give my famous stare, and then glance at the prints. Easy-peasy Christmas bliss!
The quantities are limited, so if you want one, you better hop on the shop site quick! Santa will be here soon. Xoxo #linkinbio#holidaydecor
Good Morning 🤗 my Mum said I should introduce myself to you all, and I have found through trial & error she is ALWAYS RIGHT! So hey 👋 this is me! (You can call me Katie) I started The Kindred Loom after working as the PR & Marketing Director for The Rug Show. I just started the job because I wanted a part time marketing position and thought that looks fun.. I have always loved interiors & design and then low and behold I started to become hypnotised by the INSANE BEAUTY of handmade rugs & textiles. I also organised a series of seminars with The Rug Show on sustainable design and worked ngo’s and started to learn more and more about the incredible people and industry behind handmade rugs. What can I say.. I fell hard 😂❤️ So here I am sharing the pieces I find along the way!

It's such an odd feeling waking up to silence. I'm already missing the cuddles and giggles but I'm not missing the tantrums! We had a lovely date night last night, we are heading out for breakfast this morning and then we will crack on with painting for the rest of the day. I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Turn the heater on for the first time this season and staying cozy inside. Let’s pray this weather stays for a few months! Outdoor activities with this little guy will be so much more pleasant with no heat 🙏🏼 Also, any advice to start introducing potty training will be greatly appreciated! 🙃
