“An open face is a happy face” is one of my favorite tips from my nutrition program!
Why?? Because I love bread and I don’t want to be told I can’t have it!
The hubs picked up some #jerseymikes and shared some with me! It’s his favorite sandwich place - so that must mean it’s #truelove❤️ Paired with my cheesy veggie soup makes for a winning combination!
The 2B Mindset is changing lives!!

Global Public Health Spend - new report from the World Health Organisation
In 2016, the world spent US$ 7.5 trillion on health, representing close to 10% of global GDP. The average per capita health expenditure was US$ 1,000, but half of the world’s countries spent less than US$ 350 per person.
Health’s share of GDP was greatest in high income countries, at around 8.2% on average. For both low and middle income countries, health expenditure was approximately 6.3% of GDP.
Between 2000 and 2016, global spending on health increased every year, growing in real terms at an average annual rate of 4.0%, faster than the 2.8% annual growth of the global economy.
The distribution of health spending globally remains highly unequal. Only 20% of the world’s population live in high income countries, and yet these countries account for close to 80% of global health spending. Whereas the top 10 countries spent US$ 5,000 or more per person in 2016, the bottom 10 countries spent less than US$ 30 per person.
This year’s report confirms the importance of the ongoing efforts by WHO and collaborating countries and partner agencies to improve the quality, consistency and availability of the data.
The full report makes for a promising read and the improvements in healthcare coverage are clear to see, long may it continue.

"I don't understand people's fascination with titles. I prefer to be called 'John' not 'Dr John'. I tell that to everyone. It is only in Nigeria that Medical Laboratory Scientists address themselves as 'SCT so and so' and Pharmacists as 'Pharm so and so'. I find it unnecessary.
As for monopoly of leadership by Medical doctors, I agree that an MBBS degree or any other medical degree is not necessarily required for managerial positions in the health care sector but if the draw of persons must come from the medical field, doctors are usually better qualified.
This is because other healthcare professionals do not have a culture of furthering their education beyond their first degree while medical doctors go ahead to even specialize in courses that are the basic compositions of the first degree of other health professionals.
Medical doctors are not to blame for the poor state of the health sector. Just like other sectors in Nigeria, system failure is responsible.
A pharmacist or medical laboratory scientist could be the minister of health or CMD tomorrow and the state of the health system will still be the same. It is simply a matter of poorly qualified people in leadership positions.
Take for instance, the MDCN, managed by doctors for doctors. I paid for my annual practice licence in June and was charged a 100% penalty fee for not renewing by December of that same year. That, as far as I am concerned is corruption. Licence payment is computerized and date of payment is easily accessible. Why not allow each person pay before a year elapses based on their date of payment or better still, divide the annual fee into a monthly fee.
I am not a Nigeria optimist. I don't believe this country will ever get better."

Dondequiera que el arte de la medicina es amado, tambien hay un amor a la humanidad - Hipócrates
About 18/01, I finally got inducted into the pharmacy profession. (I just pinched myself 😂). It doesn’t feel like it’s been 5 years of stress, tears, challenges, happiness and excitement, BUT it has. This may sound cliché but I want to encourage you guys to never give up. Anything you put your mind to is possible, no matter who you are. Never let anyone’s negativity prevent you from getting what you truly want. Aim high, strive for excellence and the sky will be a stepping stone. #AsMenofHonor#Pharmacist#LegalDrugBaron

Happy Friday IG! 🙋🏻♂️ walking into campus today and seeing the interviewees has me feeling some type of way. A year ago this time, I was in that same position, and I wanted this so bad! Crazy how fast a year goes by right?
I’ve had a few people reach out and tell me that they’ve been accepted to my program, crazy 😜, if CRNA is your goal, or whatever it may be, keep pushing!! The time really does fly and before you know it, that “time that you prayed for the things you have now” will be here.
A few interview tips that I’d suggest: they are gona drill you on CV/Pulm: they are gona ask what type of icu you come from and drill you on those type of patients.
What’s your most difficult patient you’ve ever cared for?
ABG interpretation in a scenario (review this) why acidotic? What would you do?
How does a pulse ox work?
How many molecules of 02 can hgb hold, what else can it hold besides oxygen?
What’s FI02 room air?
Vasopressors and what receptors they affect: (alpha, beta 1/2/3, D, etc)
Vent settings: modes, peep, pressure support, what’s the difference ?
Heart block, tx, plan of care, hemodynamic monitoring (CO, CVP, PCWP, PA Pressures, etc)
Hope this help: study like the CCRN! Questions down below ⬇️, get it!
What #HYPOTHYROIDISM looked like for me 😔 when you are chronically stressed or not fueling yourself properly over a long time, your thyroid drops your metabolism and stops certain functions like ovulation, hair growth, sex drive, digestion, etc
In the depth of my #bikinicompetition season, my cheeks were sunken, eyes bulging, ALWAYS (I mean ALWAYS) cold, my hair was thinning, and I literally had no motivation to do anything. Do I miss being a “badass” and achieving all the #bodygoals ?? Of course!! It’s hard to scroll pictures and see how my body has changed and become bigger but I know that my body is thanking me:
For feeding it
For giving it rest
For nurturing it
And for loving it 💖
One thing I must emphasize that eating at a caloric deficit for a long period of time WILL jeopardize your thyroid! Especially as women, we do NOT need to eat less than men. We need the same, if not, MORE at times (hello, we are made to be able to grow another human!)
It took missing my cycle to teach me a lesson that being skinny does not always mean health. I no longer have to wear 5 layers of clothes and my hair is getting stronger and growing faster 💪🏼 my cheeks are full and my skin is not dry 🙌🏼 Clothes may be tighter but that means an excuse to go shopping right ? 😅 #bodypositive#transformationtuesday
