The hips initiate the swing NOT the hands ‼️
There are many cues hitting coaches use to try to make things simpler for hitters. But it’s important to understand the difference between FEEL vs. REAL ✅
“Throw your hands to the ball”, a common old-school hitting cue used by so many coaches. This is a FEEL cue but not a REAL one. I dislike this cue bc it does a horrible job explaining what’s actually going on in a swing. BUT for some hitters it helps them feel their swing better during the movement even though it’s not exactly what’s going on. So if coaches are telling you to do it, ask them why and how it’s going to apply. If they don’t have a good answer...then it’s probably best to not listen to them 🚫
Any cue is fine as long as there is a clear indication as to why it’s being used and what is actually happening. But if you want to dive deep into your individual biomechanics and learn how to maximize your potential...you want to lean towards using hitting cues for yourself that are directly applicable to efficient movement patterns 🏌🏽♂️
Transfer of energy begins with the hips! Even though everyone moves differently...there’s always common themes that should be applied with everyone.
