🍦🍦🍦OBVS now that I’m home I’ve dived straight into #nosugar#veganuary#rawtill4! And no more ice cream or chocolate till at least Easter amirite?!
After all the oily, sugary & processed foods I’ve been consuming while traveling it’s only normal to assume that as soon as I got back I’d jump into some green juice cleanse or diet disguised as a health hack. Well if you don’t know me that is.
Soz, but I’ve #beentheredonethat, & can guarantee you that the road to LONG TERM health, food satisfaction, consistency and a way of eating that is robust - ie can withstand travel/stress/busyness/LIFE, does not look like that.
Not only does that kind of approach struggle to leave space for a lil (big) thing called LIFE, lead to increased food anxiety as you need to control most meals, and fail to teach you habits & skills that’ll enable you to be flexibly healthy long term, but it’s UNNECESSARY.
Your body (and liver specifically) is FANTASTIC at detoxing you. And by simply caring for it in a balanced way (more water, more whole and less refined foods, more sleep and more movement), it will do all that and more for you.
There is no data to back up that celery juice trends, detox teas or restrictive diets improve your ability to process “toxins”! But there is loads on the benefits of eating more plants, sleeping more & stressing less. And even those you don’t need to nail with perfection!
So I’ll be giving myself the freedom (as I always do) to make the choice that serves me best in each moment, bearing in mind my long term health goals for myself. I trust that I can make good choices for myself often enough without prescribing to anything rigid. Just more fresh, whole foods now that circumstances make that easier, & so that’s what I’ll aim for. More sleep so I’ll focus on habits that enable that without stressing about an exact number of hours. You can improve your health through conscious choices without being all or nothing. It might seem more tricky in the short term to not have strict parameters, but think more than just 2 weeks from now. How do you want your life to look in April? Or July? And put habits in place to set yourself up for then! ♥️
