Award winning TV anchor Catherine Bosley joins me on the latest episode of aParently Speaking to share her very personal story of the impact one mistake can have on you in this “day of digital danger” as she calls it.
“Historically, privacy was almost implicit, because it was hard to find and gather information. But in the digital world, whether it's digital cameras or satellites or just what you click on, we need to have more explicit rules - not just for governments but for private companies.” ― Bill Gates

#Privacy has been a buzzword for the digital world for a while, but a little more recently we've begun to see how it's hitting the Real Estate world as well. One of the most dangerous ways this is rearing its ugly head is through the compromising of wire transfers at closings. Hackers know that tens of thousands of dollars can be up for grabs as people buy and sell new houses, and have begun to try and intercept these transfers by emailing clients from fake (but legit-looking) email addresses, giving them last-minute changes to wire instructions. It's important for you as a buyer or seller to be vigilant about this possibility, and make absolutely sure that emails you follow come from only your title company, your lender, or your Realtor. And if you ever do get any correspondence with a last-minute change of plans, talk to your Realtor, even if you're 100% sure it's legit. The chances of you falling victim to a scam are bigger than you think, and it's better to be safe than sorry because your hard-earned equity just disappeared because someone else didn't respect your privacy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The online environment has given us some great things right?
Social media, websites, communication and something else we greatly value in life and that's ... space!
Space to be and call our own, but it's very hard to find online space that's truly ours WITH privacy & security 😯
Do you want to keep everything precious to you in the cloud under lock and key

From our laptops to smart phones to tablets, almost everything is online these days. And because of this it is easier to be tracked and kept a watch on. It does not take much to say that the more these smart devices are taking over our lives the more we are being controlled by them.
We have read 1984 and we are begining to realize that it was a mere trailer of the future. And what we are facing right now is far beyond the curse of the Big Brother. .
Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to read or hear about data breaches and leaks from major technology companies. ⠀
