Oncorhynchus mykiss. Did you know that "steelhead" and "rainbow trout" are the same species? Yep they are. There are sizable differences but genetically they are the same. Some fish find it a more suitable life to live in the ocean and then spawn in rivers along side their rainbow buddies. Scientist don't really know why they do this other than just preference. I guess the saying, "bigger water, bigger fish" really does apply here. I hope you learned something and I hope you have a fishy happy day! #steelhead#rainbowtrout#Oncorhynchusmykiss
Just got done fishing my local Creek for some stocked Trout! Didn't really film for the YouTube Channel, so you know the bite was hawt. 😁🤭😂 I ended up catching my limit of 3 Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) just as the afternoon snowstorm came to Philly. EXTREME Philly Fishing. Lol.
New video dropped on the YouTube Channel yesterday, folks: my first Muskie hunt of the year, plus some stocked Trout action with @symplexfishing!
We scouted the River in the morning and two Creeks in the afternoon. For ~37F water temps, I would say it was a pretty productive day! Make sure you hop to the video if you want to watch the entire adventure. Link is in the bio!
From left to right, I caught the following Species: Brook Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis), and Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
We had a tremendous day yesterday in God’s Great Outdoors: My brother Tim fished a fly rod for the first time, caught some awesome trout, also learned how hard it is to wade around on slippery rocks. My sister-in-law Ginger Lee provided much moral support as well. We saw so much wildlife: Antelope, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Elk, Bighorn Sheep, Golden Eagles, Bald Eagles, Brown Trout, Rainbows, Cutbows, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys. We are so blessed who live here in Wyoming! #salmotrutta#oncorhynchusmykiss#wyoming#ggo#platteriverflyshop#uglybugflyshop#thereefflyshop#bighornsheep
If you folks have been following my #youtube Channel recently, you know that I have been on the Trout chase for the past week or so. Late Fall/Winter fishing for them is truly a lot of fun!!! ...And for my surprise, a very rare Tiger Trout (Salmo trutta X Salvelinus fontinalis) showed up on one of my most recent adventures! This fella was caught on Power Bait, at the Pennypack Creek. It was probably stocked by some private organization, since the @pafishandboat doesn't stock that particular Creek with this Species (as far as I know). The video is already on the YouTube Channel (link in bio). Now...I understand that there are populations of Tiger Trout around the country, but I would like to emphasize that around my area -- Philadelphia County, PA -- this is a pretty rare catch. Eight years of fishing the Pennypack, and this was my first one ever. Heh... That being said, what are you waiting for? You should be going out there, adventuring yourself in the wild! Cuz at the end of the day, you really never know what is biting down there.
