PAUL + ELKY are my neighbours and also the newest married kids on the block. They live in this gorgeous house that Paul built with a deck out the back that you walk out onto and feel like you’re in the middle of the bush. It’s private, beautiful, and perfect for the low-key kinda wedding these two had in mind.
When I left, Paul and Elky were knocking back drinks, eating delicious canapés made by the in-house chefs, and chatting/laughing away with their 20 favourite people. Their kids were running around, doing what kids do, and I couldn’t help but notice how stressed everyone WASN’T.
I know I harp on about this a lot but let this serve as yet another reminder that it really doesn’t matter how you celebrate your marriage. Because really, the wedding itself is superfluous to the marriage. Weddings are a luxury item, no matter how you dress them. I can marry you at your kitchen table in your pyjamas and your marriage will be every bit as relevant, certified and real as the couple who spent $80,000 on their wedding day. The thing I love most about this job is that it’s ever-changing and, thanks to these modern times we live in, people are no longer slaves to the societal traditional wedding norms of the past.
If you want to have a huge wedding and celebrate with 200 people, great.
If you want to meet me at the local coffee shop and get the barista and waiter to witness your vows and sign off on your legal docs as you seal the deal, great.
I have zero qualms about rolling with your wedding day in whatever form it takes. Just as long as you, in the long-run, have your sights set on a happy marriage, rather than *just* a happy wedding day.
Congrats, Elky and Paul, for getting hitched your way. And thanks for letting me in on the action xx

Here’s a snippet of our short film! 💕 to see the entire thing without interruptions and in HD (due to instagram’s compression lol), click on the link on our bio!!!
Easter has always been a sign to me that Spring is finally here! Flowers are popping up, windows are open-- filling our house or car with a fresh cool breeze, the sun is out more and everything is brighter.
Although I've always considered Fall to be my favorite season, I have to say, there is something about the rebirth that Spring brings with it. It's refreshing and inspiring and I'm. Here. For. IT!
Personally-- Spring also means my photography season is officially starting up! I'm so excited for this years weddings and portrait sessions. It's going to be an amazing year-- I can just feel it.
Happy Easter (to those that celebrate)! AND Happy Spring, officially (in my book, anyway 🤣😂)!

It has been brought to my attention that my #MerGothwedding has be under mild criticism in a “wedding shaming” group. I was confused as to why on earth anyone would create this type of environment and be a part of it. I’m a positive person and pretty transparent online about who I am. So to hear that our wedding, one of my happiest memories, is being judged by strangers is a bit baffling. Like a weird club or Burn Book haha! It’s all hysterical! Overall, I know me/my style isn’t for everyone and people are entitled to their opinions 🤷🏻♀️ In the midst of this, I was made aware the majority of the comments were very positive and supportive of my wedding despite the original poster’s complaints. Yay! It’s good to know I have a sea of support and love from so many people which I’m so thankful and grateful for. I had a great wedding with beautiful photos and unforgettable memories. I wouldn’t change it for anything! 🖤
So if you’ll excuse me, Ima light up my adorable clamshell bouquet, straighten my “horned crown” and eat delicious aesthetically “ruined” wedding cake with a husband I “loathe” 😂💁🏻♀️
@kaseyjean1252 and I connected via social media thanks to concert photography years ago. I watched over the years as she evolved into an incredible wedding, engagement and portrait photographer - one who's work I admired and was always inspired by. Because of the distance, I never thought it would be realistic to be able to work with her, but life has a funny way of making things happen sometimes. Only a week after @trevorwilliamsphotography popped the question, Kasey had posted on social about upcoming travels to our area in FL... AND she was looking for couples to work with while she was here. There was no way I was going to let that opportunity pass by, and we finally got to meet in person earlier this month... Though it really just felt like we had known each other for years and were just reuniting as old friends. Kasey and her husband @tylerrajotte are absolutely wonderful and we had a blast spending the day with them. It's funny how much you can learn from spending a couple hours on the other side of the lens! These photos speak for themselves on the level of talent Kasey and Tyler have and I can't thank them enough for truly being able to capture and do justice to the love that people can have for one another.
(Seriously, for anyone looking for a #WeddingPhotographer ... go check out @studiotwelve52. All of their work is amazing, I'm not just biased cuz of these. 😉) .

Luminous! Just like the stunning Persian bride it’s custom made for ... so light and perfect for her destination wedding 🌞🌴🌸
Thanks @hugogyrl for providing the perfect backdrop for this two lady engagement sesh ♥️♥️ I met Kate and Kaitlyn while I was shooting a wedding. Kaitlyn lives in Denver while Kate lives here in New Orleans. Soon they will get to live in the same city but for now their long distance relationship is marked with weekend getaways like this one that includes a little photoshoot.
i know you’re not supposed to post friday evenings but HELL YEAH is about breaking the rules and conventions baby!!! plus i was really excited about this cute pair of cakes out the door today, driven 7 hours to florida for a wedding (by one of the guests! talk about commitment!). the theme was tropical florida, so this miami girl was PUMPED. 🌴🥥😭 and making them thinking about the scrub and the sky (left), and the art deco south beach buildings and the killer sunsets (right), got me feelin’ a little homesick. what do you think?! did i nail it?! 😎🌈 #bombesquad
