❤️ NOURISHMENT - ARRIVED HOME IN BALI ❤️ After 5 months of leaving Bali, and travelling to Canada, USA, Germany and England - I finally find myself back on this sacred island of the Gods.
The first thing I did upon arrival after a 24 hour travel day was have a massage, body scrub and flower bath with a honey ginger tea at my favourite spa in the jungle.
It was my first massage in 5 months since leaving Bali, and when I was on the table having the massage, the following question floated into my awareness: What do you give to your body?
My Soul said: Everyday you are giving so much to so many people. You are responding to 20-30 messages on Facebook everyday, showering so many people with love and serving so many - you give, give, and give more...what do you give to yourself?
This realization and insight of truth penetrated me deeply.
In the last few months, I hadn't been giving myself the amount of nourishment and self care that my body needs.
It's very easy for me to go into "active service" mode, where I often can go beyond my own needs very easily.
I learned this from my mother, who was selflessly devoted to serving her family.
There is actually going to be a chapter in my book that is being published and coming out soon on this exact topic! Will share more soon on this... 😊
Now that I am back in Bali, it's time to replenish. To allow myself to be nourished deeply. To soften. To melt. To open and receive.
To treasure and give back to my body something of a gratitude for being such a powerful sacred tool and physical vessel for the consciousness that I am to be expressed and translated into this world.
My body is the conduit for my spirit to express itself in this form. My body is the sacred vehicle for the expression and exaltation of my spirit to be lived, revealed, transmitted and conducted into this earthly human form.
I am going to uplevel in giving my body the nourishment and love that it needs in order to ground and anchor even more of the Light and Consciousness of All that I am onto this Earth.

It makes me happy when people ask me about nutrition :) It makes me confident 💪🏻
-stuffed Medjool dates
.i split them in half and stuffed it with chia flax peanut butter and my homemade cocoa spread(cocoa powder, gelatinized maca, and ashwagandha, water or coconut oil)👌🏻✨ I then sprinkled on some pink Himalayan salt and cocoa nibs and coconut shreds👏🏻✨ -then freeze for about an hour and enjoy!🙌🏻
-if I'm ever skimping out on dessert I'm probably running from an Apocalypse, FYI these dates are so good and decadent -they have a Carmel texture👏🏻🤤 ✨ #health#yum#mejooldates#vegan#plantbased#stuffeddates#energy#carbs#nourishment#vitamins#fiber

Unpopular opinion (but I seem to be doling those out left and right lately so why stop now?! 🤷🏻♀️😂)… being ultra lean is not automatically synonymous with being optimally healthy.
It’s tough to speak in generalities because there are literally thousands of different people reading this, all with different bodies, health statuses, issues with food, etc. BUT…
In my online communities, I’m seeing more and more anxiety about leanness – or lack of it – in women that are already lean and have good body composition.
There are no lack of people on the grams showing off their ultra-lean physiques. And that’s fine. Their prerogative. But that doesn’t mean it’s a free pass for you to freak TF out and think you have to drop everything right now and get leaner too.
Stop for a minute.
Do you think being v v lean will make you happier? Healthier? Are you willing to do what it might take to drop to a body fat in the low teens (for a woman...everything has a cost)?
Are you assuming that because someone looks very lean on the outside, they’re healthy on the inside (and that includes their mental/emotional health)? Are you ready to accept that there will likely be real tradeoffs...like in many women, a loss of your period...one of your vital signs?
I used to be way leaner. I could see way more definition in my abs and my legs were smaller.
I also had to either weigh, measure, and log my food (when cutting for weightlifting meets…long term, I didn’t give enough fucks to keep this up) OR
Not eat nearly enough and do chronic cardio (lost a ton of muscle and was mentally in the worst place of my life) in order to see even more leanness in my abs.
Put another way, that extra leanness / 6-pack isn’t worth what it would cost me at this point in my life.
I’m happy with who I am. I feel AMAZING. I’m HEALTHY. I feel STRONG. And I also know my worth isn’t defined by my body fat percentage.
Think before you freak. I love you.

What if we are living too short and dying too long?
Last week I listened to a talk from a doctor and this was her response when people bring up the fact that people are living longer than ever these days so how can there be a health crisis?
This quote has been playing in my head for a week because it’s such a good point. We may be physically living longer than ever but at what cost? Living with gastrointestinal problems, obesity, cancer, hormone imbalances, infertility, Alzheimer’s, etc is not really LIVING.
That’s why I went into clinical nutrition because so many health problems can be solved or improved with diet, and I don’t know about you but I want to spend as much time as I can on this Earth LIVING not dying.

The vitamins contained with the fruits and veggies in our whole food capsules act as an anti inflammatory for the body which reduces bloating and aids with digestion of food 🍃 I am forever grateful for these babies 🙏🏻Say bye to the daily bloat!

🌳🧘🏽♀️Bodh Gaya is a pilgrimage site associated with the Mahabodhi Temple in India. .
Bodh Gaya is the place where Gautama Buddha attained unsurpassed, supreme Enlightenment. For seven days after the Enlightenment, the Buddha continued to #meditate under the Bodhi tree without moving from his seat. During the second week, he practiced walking meditation. A jewel walk, Chankramanar, was built as a low platform adorned with nineteen lotuses which are parallel to the Maha Bodhi #temple on its north side. For another week the Buddha contemplated the Bodhi tree. In this place, a stupa was built called Animeschalochana situated to the north of the #Chankramanar.
To Buddhists, this is the most important of the main four pilgrimage sites related to the life of #Buddha. In 2002, Mahabodhi Temple became a #Unesco World Heritage Site. For those who aspire to awaken their full potential, Bodh Gaya today is truly a field vibrant with the potentiality of #enlightenment. Enriched by the devotion of #Buddhists of all traditions, this #holy site is emerging as a powerful #inspiration to the modern world, #awakening people of all nations to the real possibility of enlightenment. #travel#buddhalandtravel#thursday#incense#nourishment#motivation#healthy#meditation

Lately, I’ve been feeling my body crave very specific vitamins recently. I decided to go out and by a few of them today just to start to replenish my body of the nutrients it’s been craving. I’ve known my body has been needing omega’s recently since I’ve been craving a lot of flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, etc. Time to heal // #vegan#veganfood#veganism#supplements#nourishment#vitamins#omegas#vsco#vscocam

Love me some Ghee! Ghee (or clarified butter) is one the most powerful healing foods on the planet. It has been used in Ayurvedic Medicine (ancient Indian healing system) for thousands of years and is considered to be one of the best fats you can eat! Mounting research has showed eating different sources of good healthy fat can actually boost your health. 🤓👌🏼📈
So what exactly is Ghee? Ghee is produced when butter (grass fed of course) is heated and simmered until the water has evaporated, ultimately separating the milk solids (casein + lactose) from the fat. The end result is a casein and lactose free pure fat that is rich in beneficial nutrients and contains several fatty acids important for our health. -
Benefits of Ghee include but are not limited to: •
✅Fat Soluble Vitamins- Ghee contains vitamins A, E, D, and K. Important nutrients that assist in strong bones, healthy skin, vision and much more. Since fat is required for the absorption of these vitamins into the body, having them in ghee allows them to be assimilated extremely well
✅Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)- CLA is a fat that is mainly found in grass fed beef/butter. CLA may be beneficial for helping with weight loss, anti cancer effects, bone/muscle building, improve digestion, and immune support.
✅Butyrate- Ghee is loaded with Butyrate (or butyric acid) which is a short chain fatty acid well known for its role in gut health. Butyrate supports the healing of cells in the intestines, thus helping aid in digestion and calming inflammation.
✅Bone Density- Vitamin K is essential for maintaining bone density, blood clotting, heart health, and more. Consuming ghee on a regular basis is a great way for you to get that K!
✅Promotes Weight Loss- The medium chain fatty acids found in healthy fats like ghee and coconut oil can help boost fat burning and weight loss.
✅Casein and Lactose Free- Great for those with dairy sensitivities!
When cooking, swap out your vegetable oils for ghee (ghee has an extremely high smoke point at 485 degrees making it way safer to use than some alternatives), or add it to your morning coffee and see for yourself the amazing health benefits ghee has to offer!
Spirulina Nice Cream Bowls.. We are hooked on spirulina and you should be too, because of its anti-aging, energizing and detoxifing benefits. Plus it is filled with antioxidants and high in protein. ⠀
What is your fave spirulina receipe? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Zombie Brain Smoothie 💚
I love the holidays and like to do ALL the holiday things. This month: carving pumpkins, watching scary things that legit make me sleep with a night light (Haunting of Hill House 😱), then not so scary things (Sabrina, Hocus Pocus, Monster Mash), going on a haunted hayride, & handing out candy with my niece who is WAY into Halloween this year (she's 2 1/2 and wants to dress up as a ghost so she can scare people and say, "BOO!" 👻).
Here's how you can make this scary delish smoothie:
Blend 1 avocado, 1 frozen banana, and almond milk until smooth and creamy. Divide among two mason jars. Next, blend 1 cup frozen dragonfruit chunks (can sub strawberries or raspberries), 1 tbsp chia seed, and 1 cup coconut water. Blend until smooth. Divide over the top of your avocado smoothies. Use a straw or a butter knife to scrape down the sides of the jars to create little pink streaks through the avo base. Done! Enjoy!
Food is such a huge part of my life, and probably yours too. It gives us energy to get through the day and literally fuels our lives. For me, someone who got sucked into our toxic diet culture, my relationship with food got complicated. It’s been a long road to find a healthier relationship with eating, but there’s been a few key elements to my recovery that have helped immensely.
1. Reconnecting to the true purpose of food. Food = nourishment on the most basic level.
2. Removing all rules and restrictions from my eating. While I prefer to eat a plant based diet, I still eat meat from time to time, especially if it’s prepared for me with love!
3. Learning more about the food I’m eating. This includes eating local foods from my friends csa, @ironoxfarm. Learning about local edible wild plants and mushrooms from @mushroomsformyfriends, and deepening my appreciation for cooking, with inspiration from badass chefs @hungeristhebestspice and @sapple117.
I’ve always been fascinated with food, and chose to study nutrition in college. Over the years my relationship with food and nutrition has ranged from interest to unhealthy obsession. My career has ranged from dietary research at MGH, to feeding patients at Winchester hospital, to food science and product development in the dairy industry, to health coaching breast cancer patients about the importance of good nutrition, and planning a culinary yoga retreat (that will take place in November!) with a focus on enjoying food and the process of preparing and cooking food. This is incredibly healing and rewarding for me to be able to share what food means to me, now. Looking forward to connecting to others through food, and embarking on a weekend journey of nourishment for the body and soul.

I eat Paleo because it is what works well for my body.
What diet should you follow? Paleo, Keto, Carb Cycling, Intermittent Fasting, Vegetarian? The choices are almost endless but one thing that does not change...Whole Foods. No one eating style is right for every person because we are all created differently.
You can't go wrong with nutrient dense foods that come directly from God. This means lots of shopping in the produce section of the grocery store & very little shopping the middle aisles where things come in plastic wrappers.
It’s that time of year again..🍂
To celebrate I made my favorite breakfast, overnight oats! But with a fall twist. .
PUMPKIN spiced cinnamon apple overnight oats 🍎
Cover 1/2 cup of oats with 1 C of almond milk in a jar. Add in chia seeds, maple syrup, and @furtherfood Turmeric Tonic.
Sauté the apples in coconut oil, lots of cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. 🎃 Turmeric is a cold and flu fighter because of its anti inflammatory properties, so this recipe is perfect for fall, and it’s so cozy 🍂
Use code “WELLNESSBYLAURYN10” for 10% the turmeric tonic.
Meal Prep Monday 🌱
Lunches & 1 Snack packed 🙌🏻. .
I’ll still have to put together breakfast, 2 additional snacks, and dinner but majority of the work is done! 👏🏻
Veggies and Proteins in these containers. Bulk of what I make every week. Carbs and fruits will consist of oatmeal, wild rice, bananas, apples, and mixed berries. 💪🏻. .
If you want to know more specifically what I put together you can always drop me a message. More than happy to go into further detail 💕 #motivate2ameliorate#mealprepmonday

WHOLE FOODS 🍍🥑🍎🥦🥝
I’ve spoke about all the benefits of a plant-based diet before, and I truly believe it’s the best way to eat.
Now, there’s also this concept of whole foods that lends its-self heavily to nourishment.
Food is best when kept simple. But how do you know what to eat? Here a few easy rules of thumb to guide you:
1. NATURE🍃 Focus on eating a way that is as close to nature as possible.
2. VARIETY🌈 Try different diets, different foods, different macros and make note of how it influences your body, your energy, your mood, and your overall progress towards your goals.
3. INTUITION🧠 Learn your body and listen to the cues it gives you. If you’re hungry at 12am, EAT. If you’re not hungry at 12pm, DON’T. Be adaptive and responsive to your natural appetite.
4. HEAL✨ Try to heal the emotional and mental traumas and habits that you experience. Replace your emotional tendencies with alternative behaviours, and try to build a good relationship with food. Food is GOOD. Food is ENERGY, not the ENEMY, you NEED nourishment, you DON’T need fulfillment from it.
What are your biggest food and nutrition obstacles? Let me know below! 😊
