Would you believe that this scene was literally alongside the road? It was hard to get anywhere as an hour and a half drive takes pretty much twice as long if after every curve is another beautiful landscape that you just can't miss each time!
I find it fascinating.
I am drawn to certain friends because I can tell that they are on the same path as me. Here's an odd analogy: You know when you're driving down the freeway, and someone begins driving right next to you at the same speed? You notice peripherally. You feel them there. You look left and see them keeping perfect pace, and for that moment, you are together, speeding down the road in the same direction. That's how it feels with some friends.
That same-speed recognition.
A feeling of mutual momentum and direction.
And then there are people that I am drawn to precisely because they are different. Perhaps they have something I lack.
I am attracted to people who express and heal their pain because I run quite often from mine.
It catches me off-guard when it dawns on me that all my relationships are just chemistry unfolding.
Sameness finding sameness.
Imbalance finding balance.
This wonderful idea of us being streams of rivers, hopefully, eventually, meeting at a certain point.
