A sculpture by artist Dale Lamphere called The Arc of Dreams. The Arc spans the Big Sioux River in downtown Sioux Falls, SD and was just completed in the last few weeks. The sculpture is made of stainless steel and is nearly as long as a football field. About 85 feet above the river there is a 15-foot gap in the Arc. According to an online promotion piece, the gap represents "the leap of faith dreamers must take to see their dreams come true." The Arc of Dreams will be dedicated at 8:00 p.m. July 24th followed by the lighting of the structure at 9:15 p.m. Sculptor Dale Lamphere has created numerous large pieces of art that can be seen in the region, including "Destiny", the large metal sculpture of a Native American woman that towers over the Missouri River at the rest area on the east side of the river along I-29 at Chamberlain, SD. He also carved statues that can be seen in the Trinity Heights attraction in Sioux City, Iowa. Lamphere is based in Sturgis, SD.
