Another amazing sunset over Ngunguru Estuary at full tide!
Brand new to the market scene is Rali & friends!!! And we are so pleased that they have chosen to have their first market experience with us here at Ngunguru Market. This is a very special stall and you'll fall in love with these beautifully crafted childrens teethers and toys.
Rali & Friends was created to share a passion for innovative and natural children’s toys with our community here in Aotearoa.
Each item is hand created out of eco-friendly and non toxic materials so they are safe for our pepi to explore and chomp away on. No two items are the same as they are carefully created to ensure that each piece is just as unique and beautiful as the next.
Expect to see wall-weavings,teethers & pacifier clips for your pēpi. @rali_and_friends#locallymade#newzealand#nzmade#ngunguru#woodtoys#handmade#beautiful#new#local#northlandnz#comealong#happybabies
I read somewhere that someone once said at some point that the only exercise session you regret doing is the one you didn’t do.
They probably put it a bit more eloquently than that.
When my alarm went off this morning the last thing I wanted to do was sprint intervals before work. But if I hadn’t gone, I wouldn’t have seen this splendid sunrise. And now I am full of beans. And could possibly fight crime.

Scows Landing, Kiripaka
In 1892 the coal mine opened in #Kiripaka and was so successful that they had to open a school in 1900 for the families that moved to the area to work and live. The coal was shipped out along the river, to #Ngunguru and on to Auckland on scows. (Scows were flat bottomed boats.) If you are lucky enough, you can still find remnants of coal in the river buried beneath the sand. Ngunguru School has a cabinet with some examples on display.
We kayaked the river recently with our 4 year old and found the whole experience to be beautiful and relaxed. Follow it out to Ngunguru on the outgoing tide.
Ngunguru means rumbling tides and is steeped in so much history.
