New Zealand 2015.
Oh you know just casually wearing my togs and a pair of runners for a cycle up a steep hill, it was stinking hot & my face was sweating, hence the out-of-character back (or bum 🍑) to the camera 🤣
P. S how fab is this place, it's one of my fave spots in Queenstown & the water is a tad warmer here so I can go for a nice long swim!

For the last 10 days I've been exploring the south island in this beast. Huge thank you to @gritrentals for being so generous. I can't think of a better way to experience all that New Zealand had to offer ❤
“I feel that life is very short and the world is here to see and one should know as much about it as possible. One belongs to the whole world, not just part of it.” 🌎🦋 - Paul Bowles
One thing I’ve done my whole life at night time is imagine what’s going on in that exact moment across the world 🌌 I remember thinking about India as a little girl laying in my bed, trying to figure the time difference, thinking about what kids were like there, pondering how things might be similar and how they were certainly different, wanting so badly to see the place with my own eyes. I’ve always felt this interconnectedness with the rest of the world. Maybe it’s because our home was filled with people from all over the world growing up, my dad’s friends and family from the Middle East, my mom’s friends returning from faraway places. I don’t know. But I do know that it’s my greatest honor and pleasure as an adult to experience places that I’ve dreamed of for so many years. Especially when they are as beautiful, if not more so, than I had hoped! It’s what I dreamed of all during school and university and what I’ve worked so hard over the past ten years for 🌸💜💕 #elanalootravels#newzealandguide
Happy Friday from New Zealand, my friends! On the daily, I get asked for my top travel recommendations for this beautiful place I call home, so I thought I'd share a list with you here. Save this post, book your flights, and you're good to go. ♥️🤙 🏔 Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park: For NZ alpine scenes, it doesn't get much better than this. I recommend exploring Tasman Lake for sunrise, Hooker Lake for sunset, staying overnight at Mueller Hut (pre-book on doc.govt.co.nz) and if you want to some more off the beaten path treks, have a quick google. There are tons! Astrophotography here is also unbeaten (better than Tekapo since you'll have minimal light pollution high up). For tips on how to take your best milky way photos, scroll back to one of my Australia astro shots where I go in depth on this. 💦 Lake Pukaki & Lake Tekapo: I personally much prefer Pukaki over Tekapo. I recommend you stock up in Tekapo and - if you're self-contained - pitch camp at Pukaki to watch sunset/sunrise there. Twizel is not far from Pukaki so that you could stay there too. 🧗♀️Wanaka & Queenstown: Again, Wanaka brings the charm, while Queenstown can feel crowded during high season (middle of winter + summer). Your top hikes here are Roys Peak, Isthmus Peak, Brewster Hut, Ben Lomond and the Remarkables. I recommend brunch at Bespoke in Queenstown, staying overnight at the Sherwood in Queenstown and a quick dinner at the Big Fig in both towns. 🌦Milford Sound / Fiordland: A raw paradise you want to spend more than a day in. Marian Lake, The Routeburn Track (you can also do part of this as a day walk), the Kepler Track, the Milford Track (spots can sell out up to a year in advance, refer to the doc website), a cruise in Milford, a kayak or cruise in Doubtful Sound, sunrise over Lake Te Anau; the list is long. 🍃West Coast: You can go far off the beaten track here. Go wild as long as you have the right gear and feel comfortable. Back on the tourist trail, Lake Matheson, the Blue Pools, and Franz Josef Glacier won't disappoint. ♥️
I'm maxing out the word limit here. I will continue this list in the next few posts!
