Here is one of NxtGen’s Certification of Orthopedic Manual Therapy instructors, @drnicholaskyle from @moverightpt dropping some knowledge about neurodynamics!

Have you been flossing? Neurodynamic mobility is an essential component to all soft tissue extensibility programs. Often times when there is a perceived “tightness” in the hamstring musculature, there is actually a deficit in the ability of the nerve to move within the perineurium. Light mobilization with an active or passive technique can help to improve the ability of that nerve to glide within the sheath. This video captures a mobilization process for the sciatic nerve but there is a myriad of techniques to accomplish the same goal. The process depends on the individual and should be specific to the person with whom you are working. Make the program fit the person not the opposite. DM me if you want to learn more about neurodynamics for the lower and upper extremities.

Athlete presented with some very movement specific groin pain that has been an ongoing issue for her for some time. We took her through our exam and screening process where we found some areas that could be contributing to her discomfort and we also found some energy leaks in other parts of her system to address. Our treatment included some active release techniques, hip adjustments, and dermal traction/ nerve gliding to areas above and below her source of pain. We performed & prescribed these exercises to help with fascial gliding via compression floss with the goal of driving more hip internal rotation in these lower level positions. For me, I always find ways to help the patient connect with their body and movement patterns by breaking patterns down and then rebuilding them back up. There’s also something to be said when you have the patient use their own touch, like we do here w/ the supine hip IR drill, that adds another layer of brain-body connection that I find to help further lock-in what we are trying to fix. ✋🏽🙌🏽 We performed our re-tests & pain was gone! We are really looking forward to seeing @jearbee77 progress through this whole process! #GoPerformanceChiro#PerformanceChiroPlus#SportsChiro#Edwardsville#SportsPhysio#Pain#HipPain#Touch#Fascia#FascialRelease#Neurodynamics#Results#WhosYourChiro

Here's a VIDEO of a TECHNIQUE for treating ACHILLES TENDON PAIN when there is a SURAL NERVE aspect.
The SURAL NERVE can produce pain in the Achilles tendon region and around the lateral aspect of the HEEL and FOOT.
Neural tissue management is used to decrease mechanosensitivity of the nerves. You may or may not have symptoms because of this mechanosensitivity so we test it on every client. These initial small changes we make help then build the foundations for better movement in the future ✨🤸🏻♀️
#tbt At COAST, our practitioners are always looking to expand their knowledge and continuously refine their skillset.
COAST physiotherapist Lesley Brennan had the opportunity to take Michael Shacklock’s course on the application and practice of clinical neurodynamics. This practice helps to assess and treat symptoms or injuries potentially related to nerve issues.
To book an appointment with Lesley, check out the #linkinbio !
