Exploring the south tip of Naxos.
While the wind is pumping at the Kitebeach, only 10min in the south you can actually chill at the beach and have a wonderful swim without getting sandblasted 😅.
Perfect for everyone.
At an old hotel ruin, you can even find a private beach.
This sleepy little harbor town connects right to the mountain roads.
Can’t decide if this is the best marketing ploy ever, or the worst. My guess is they started to put directions on the sign – “skip along past the fallen down house, turn left after the vines covering the path, take a right after the 5th church, make a dogleg at the fountain past the house with the fat cat who never moves, you’ll see a view of the Portara on your right, limbo under the half sized archway ... ah screw it, Find us ... if you can!”
Had a solo hike today. It’s been a rough day. My dog Cheyenne past away last night. Having a day alone helped clear my head....Next to the hike was a village and a local there invited me to join him for coffee. He had a dog about the size of Cheyenne so it was a nice physical closure I got that I couldn’t have with Cheyenne. The man said the dog isn’t always friendly to tourists. Felt like the dog somehow knew I needed this affection from him. ❤️

Last day in Greece and one of the places that stands out to me the most is Mikri Vigla beach on Náxos island. So much of the terrain on the islands has reminded me of Southern California, especially inland to the desert. And Mikri Vigla has these amazing boulders that rise out of the Aegean Sea that look just like those in Joshua Tree. It’s like two of my favorite things merged into one - Joshua Tree and the water. ◈
