MTHFR (methyl-tetrahydoflate reductase) is an enzyme that converts folate from the food we eat, into its active form 5-MTHF, or 5 methyl-tetrahydrofolate. Super common, around 60% of us have a polymorphism (a fault) on the either of the two genes (A1298 or C677T) that encode for MTHFR. Effectively, this means a reduced ability to use folate by between 30-70% ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
METHYLATION & RECURRENT MISCARRIAGES⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of two most common genetic mutations reported in miscarriages is MTHFR. Active folate, active B12, B2, choline, SAMe and tri-methylglycine are essential nutrients for methylation reactions. Methylation is important for proper oestrogen metabolism & DNA & RNA formation and repair, both essential for fertility & embryonic growth and development. With inadequate methylation due to MTHFR defect & poor folate utilisation, our bodies are unable to detect and fix DNA & RNA errors. Thus abnormal cells develop and multiply, potentially leading to recurrent miscarriages⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Research suggests that an untested, unrecognised and therefore untreated MTHFR gene mutation may contribute to "unexplained infertility". Women trying to conceive are prescribed folic acid. If you have an MTHFR defect then we don't utilise that folic acid- we can't activate it. Folic acid is NOT FOLATE. Instead, that folic acid blocks real folate transport, receptors and usage. Potentially, too much folate may interfere with conception. People with an MTHFR defect can only tolerate an upper limit of 400 mcg daily (not the commonly prescribed 800 mcg)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do do about it? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Given it is such a common genetic defect, all couples trying to conceive or suffering recurrent unexplained miscarriages should have their MTHFR enzyme tested via blood or buccal swab. Easy & cheap⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Eat organic food that has not been fortified with folic acid (all non-organic wheat products have been fortified since 2009)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Eat 3-5 cups leafy green veggies daily for real folate intake⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Important things I learnt this week? Well two of them are: ••
First: that you can’t recondition judging with judgment - accept what is there, love yourself unconditionally & fully and this will be an active ingredient towards deep healing and positive transformation ••
Second: we often don’t realize how much of our preferences are installed by society and certain ideologies: QUESTION EVERYTHING to connect you to your deepest, authentic truth as it resides within you. ❤️
This journey of life has taught me so much in these past short 24 years. I cannot wait to experience many more unfoldings toward Truth, towards Presence, towards balance & healing and Self beyond self. ✨
***i don't own the rights to this video or it's music***You have to treat the WHOLE PERSON to get a cure. Treatment of symptoms is not a cure, it's a band aid. Inegrative or complementary medicine would be good here in the west. The best of both worlds. We would get the ancient healings with modern technology. A win win for the patient!! All healing systems have their pros and cons including Allopathic. No one system rules. To say the alternative methods aren't good is ignorance. "Alternative" medicine has been around since the beginning of time. Pharmaceutical medicine is just over 100 years old. So pharmaceutical medicine is the alternative. It's need but so are the others. #repost#healthpredator#alternativemedicine#holistichealing#homeopathy#chiropracticmedicine#acupuncture#herbalism#naturopathicmedicine

I know this statement rings true for a lot of you. I hear it in my office every week. “I miss who I used to be”. .
It breaks my heart.
It breaks even more when they say none of their doctors listen to them or, if they do, have nothing to offer besides medications that, at best, don’t work or at worst, make things even worse.
There ARE alternative options. Sadly, many people aren’t even aware how a different way of thinking can totally change how chronic pain can be treated.
If you’re looking for answers or simply a doctor who will listen and can help steer you in a different direction, join me in our Facebook Community, Pursuit of a Pain Free Life. We talk about the reasons behind pain that conventional medicine doesn’t address.
Providing hope for women in chronic pain is my passion. I’d love to see you there.
If not, feel free to DM me with any questions you might have. Or to vent. Or to just say hi. I’ll be here.
❤️Waiting for mama to come home already!
🤓Also wearing my blue light filter glasses by #lifeartglasses
💻I am exposed to a ton of blue light in the day and night thanks to my addiction to technology in the form of computers and phones.
👉This has led me to experience digital eye strain, poor sleep, and headaches.
🏔How does chronic light exposure effect us?
🌲High frequency light from LED screens can stress out the eyes.
💤Blue light suppresses melatonin secretion, which is a hormone that makes us sleepy and helps regulate our circadian rhythm and sleep wake cycles.
👓Having these glasses has helped me out a lot. They’re not too shabby looking either
🙌 Gotta love cauliflower!!! This amazing cauliflower and corn soup is creamy, delicious and amazing for your liver!! 💪 *
Cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower ( others include broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts) are inducers of phase I detox pathways, many people know them as CYP enzymes. *
Cruciferous vegetables are also helpful promoters in histamine metabolism which is phase II detox pathway. ( if we have too much histamine that builds up in the system, we can start to have allergies, autoimmune, food intolerances) *
Are you getting your amazing greens daily’s!?? Especially this amazing liver helper!? 🥦🙌❤️👏 *

Add 5 drops Young Living Essential Tea Tree Oil with sweet almond oil in a roller bottle! Apply this on your acne/ pimples and it will dry them out. Just found my tea tree oil yesterday and used it once and my pimples are vanishing. Time to just get rid of this annoying one on my chin and clear skin will be back. I had my doctor muscle test me to see what is causing my random acne and it is due to my hormones!
If you struggle with acne and are looking for an inexpensive treatment I’d definitely recommend tea tree oil. As for long term results, NAET treatments work wonders for just about anything health related. Highly recommend it!

Any symptoms you experience are manifestations of physiological and psychological changes that are occurring in your body. A diagnostic label, or a diagnosis code, does not dictate your symptoms and should definitely not define your treatment.⠀
Mind you, there are situations where specific treatments are not indicated if you don’t have certain symptoms, but this doesn’t mean that if you don't have that particular symptom that no treatments can be done.⠀
Some of the more common areas I see this approach taken by other physicians:⠀
// subclinical hypothyroidism⠀
// HPA axis dysfunction⠀
// borderline anemia (iron deficiency, b12/folate deficiency)⠀
// subclinical hypogonadism (low sex hormones)⠀
If you're suffering from symptoms and aren't receiving treatment because you don't fit the diagnostic criteria, I recommend you to work with an integrative physician who looks between the lines of health and disease. Between those lines lies a world of untapped healing potential.⠀

// WHY I DON'T RECOMMEND FAREX or CERELAC //
I don’t recommend Farex as a food at all to babies. There are so many whole-foods a baby can have instead, and here’s why… 🍌🍏🍐
HIGHLY REFINED CARBOHYDRATE
Being a white rice flour, a lot of it turns into glucose within seconds of being in bub’s mouth 🍭 (thanks to their salivary amylase), this has been found to hard-wire the babies taste preferences for sweets.
Remember the disgusting glucose test you have to do when you are pregnant? 🤢 Well, Endocrinologist and Obesity Australia Chief Professor, John Funder, says: “Starting a child off on a diet of rice cereal was like giving them “an oral glucose tolerance test”.
That is because of what happens to your baby’s blood glucose levels and insulin levels after eating it!
🍚 When the rice is processed in the factory, it is stripped of every single nutrient so they decide to add synthetic nutrients. However, these are much LESS absorbable than naturally occurring nutrients.
CAN CAUSE DEFICIENCES
If a bubba is loading up on rice cereal, they are going to want to have less breastmilk (or formula). 🤱 This means they are swapping out nutrient rich breastmilk, for a verrrrry poor substitute 👎
🌱 Nature is perfect the way it is, if babies are meant to be fed breastmilk & breastmilk is naturally low in iron and even contains chelators that bind to iron to minimise free iron in the gut, perhaps babies sensitive GI tracts may be harmed by too much iron. Just give them real foods!
(Unless they have a medical condition)
LACK OF ENZYMES
Pancreatic amylase which is required to fully break down grains (the rice cereal), is not produced until about the age of 10-12 months when the molar teeth are fully developed 🦷
So, feeding them rice cereal means it won’t be fully digested & can cause cramping, bloating, discomfort, constipation. These grains can wreak havoc on your baby’s little world of bacteria (essential in preventing allergies!), and stop the key nutrients from being absorbed.
LACK OF NUTRIENTS
Yes, its fortified with some iron. Great 😳 But, there are hundreds of other vitamins and minerals a baby needs which is would get from a diet of veget

Skin Care Checklist:
As we age skin cell turnover slows down and water loss occurs increasing laxity and putting a damper on that fresh glowing look. Drink up!
Antioxidants protect from harmful oxidation. Examples are polyphenols like EGCG found in green tea and flavonoids found in fruits and vegetables. Vitamins like Vitamin D and CoQ10 protect from developing skin cancer. Remove inflammatory foods especially those with excess sugar.
Sunscreen, hats, and clothing block UV radiation that increases your risk of cancer and promotes signs of aging.
Good quality sleep is needed to reduce stress. High stress can increase cortisol promoting inflammation in the body that breaks down proteins needed to keep your skin looking
firm and healthy. Sleep will encourage proper collagen production and help keep your skin hydrated.
✓ Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet rich plasma can stimulate new growth or collagen and elastin, repair damaged skin, and prevent signs of aging. 🤩
~ Caring for the Nervous System ~
The human nervous system is an exquisitely complex information highway that controls all of our biological processes, movements, and thoughts.
Especially our stress response.
It’s not that stress is bad, it is moreso our response to it which determines how it will impact out health. What we know is that the consequences of sustained levels of cortisol (“the stress hormone”) increases our risk for obesity, heart disease, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, heartburn, low libido, infertility, hypothyroidism, infection, delayed healing and even certain cancers.
There are numerous ways you can increase your resiliency and your ability to cope with the ups and downs of life such as:
• eating a minimally processed diet
• practicing daily meditation • spending time in nature • exercising regularly • listening to music • cultivating healthy relationships
Resiliency: The Role of Herbal Medicine
Nature has blessed us with so many herbs that have a soothing effect on our nervous system and that help our bodies cope and adapt to stressful situations. With the 2 most common herbal therapies being the use of nervines and adaptogens.
I’ll explain more on nervines and adaptogens in a later post xo

Chances are if you are going for regular annual visits with your doctor they are telling you all is clear even though you may not feel that way..
Unfortunately our health care system is disease focused and not health focused.
There are many signs that arise prior to illness. With a comprehensive health history and functional testing you can work towards preventing disease.
The role of nutrition in the prevention of illness is widely acknowledged. However, the power of nutrition to naturally support the body to heal / recover from illness, is less accepted and often comes with a degree of scepticism. 🌱 Food is much more than just food... it’s your health, it’s how you feel, it’s how you look and it’s how you function. 🌱 Let’s not forget that many foods & herbs were traditionally used as medicines. In fact they still are in third world countries where modern medicine is unavailable!
There are 3 phases to the use of nutritional therapy:
1. The Prevention Phase - you use nutrition to support your body to function at optimum health, you minimise the risk of illness.
2. The Symptoms Phase - you start to experience symptoms (the body’s messengers telling us something’s up), you cleverly seek the support of a nutritional therapist to help you find the root cause of symptoms and naturally eliminate the problem, stopping progression to the sick phase.
3. The Sick Phase - you are now sick so medical intervention has become necessary. Nutritional therapy can significantly help with recovery at this stage too, but must be carefully considered by a qualified & experienced nutritional therapist, as there are now often complex multi-factorial causes and numerous contraindications to consider. .
It’s amazing isn’t it, just how powerful nutrition is?! Many people don’t seek help at phase 2 because often at that point symptoms are manageable. Maybe you’re just bloated a lot, a bit of IBS the doc said, or maybe it’s heavy periods, or eczema ... but just remember that symptoms are there to tell us something is up. Seek help to get to the root of your symptoms, before phase 2 becomes phase 3. ———————

TCM diagnosis is the hardest part of Chinese medicine. “No wrong treatment, just wrong diagnosis!” Was my foundation teacher favourite phrase, which he drilled into us, over an over 😊
