On Wednesday, I attended the wonderful Sales Congress event hosted by NAIFA (more on that in a separate post).
Met up with my man @coach_gandy , CEO of Midwest Legacy Group. Chris is a "recovering athlete" (his own words), a star out of University of Illinois, and played in the NBA and Europe. Now in his 20th year of financial services, having qualified for #MDRT 14 years, including numerous Court of the Table achievements. He's also been mentoring and serving this great industry, and will serve as the next president of NAIFA Illinois Dupage. I appreciate Chris introducing and edifying me to numerous colleagues on Wednesday. I'll answer to his call to serve others in the industry, to bring diversity (women, minorities, non-traditional agents, etc) and disruption, and especially to help the young advisers (either in age or tenure) to develop and grow in this profession. With that being said, those of you under 40 or with less than 5 years of experiences in the industry, please join us next Wednesday in Oak Brook for some food &drinks, but more importantly, for the association. I am SO glad I didn't listen to people who thought I needed to be quieter, who thought I couldn't be flawed and inspire others, who didn't understand how I would make a living speaking. "What is your story going to be?" they questioned.
I'll be honest, I doubted myself too but thank goodness for all the people who were patient, who believed and supported. I'm so grateful I get to wake up and do THIS, stand on stage and share the lessons.
It was an awesome luncheon with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. I was a little worried—I wasn't sure this crowd would take to my mountain-top lessons but I didn't have to. It was exactly what was needed for that moment. How cool is that?
