A landscape of personal challenge, trustworthy friendship, self-discovery, a near absence of meaningless small talk, the willingness to accept being lost. A small handful of what this sport and the friends I share it with, bring to my life. Thank you #mtb
Mavic 840. This rear derailleur appeared around 1993 and was definitely a thing of beauty. It had the same geometry as the eight speed Dura Ace of the day and was completely rebuildable, providing your local dealer stocked the parts.
By changing the position of the little plastic gizmo (last pic) you could change the cable routing to be compatible with Shimano's 6 speed index system. It was no lightweight, weighing 233 g therefore 25 grams more than the 7401 Dura Ace, but an eyecatcher you could be proud to have on you bike nonetheless.
