In the creation of kites, some artists use the space to evoke the likenesses of historical figures. In this creation the artist chose to paint Minamoto no Yoshitsune, the great warrior-aristocrat who led several brilliant military campaigns, and his follower, the warrior-monk Musashibō Benkei. Our current exhibition, Falling Water, Soaring Kites, is on display in our galleries now through August 11.

No better way to celebrate hitting 2️⃣0️⃣K followers 🎉 than with some 🍣!! We want to thank our fans and supporters for making this a special moment for us. 20k followers is an amazing feat and goes a long way toward fulfilling our mission of presenting Japanese cultural experiences that educate and inspire. Hopefully we've been able to entertain you along the way, too 😉. Here's to 50k 🎉🎉. Now if you don’t mind us, we have some sushi to eat. 🥢
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens mission statement is to engage a diverse audience by presenting Japanese cultural experiences that educate and inspire. It is truly inspiring, so much so that I would love to experience Japan for myself one day. Their culture, way of life, and inherent beauty of their country intrigues me. I will see u one day, but for now will settle for this gorgeous garden.

Listing key skills (i.e. keywords) will be increasingly important as the use of applicant tracking systems continues to increase...
But they will also be increasingly important for showing employers how you can adapt to a changing workplace.
Skills will be a greater determining factor than years of experience as employers seek employees with potential.
They are looking for employees who have the ability to keep pace with a changing world, and years of experience will not matter much for many of the new jobs that are being created.
So, skills need to have more presence on your resume - both those that are quantifiable (such as languages, degrees, certifications, computer programs) and those that show how you relate with others at work (such as leadership, problem solving, communication, flexibility).
The "hard" and "soft" skills on your resume will need to show an employer the best of what you can do, as well as your potential for acquiring new skills.
You may be thinking "Soft skills? Really!?"
Yes! Soft skills are essential for three reasons:
1) They are an effective way to let an employer know about who you are;
2) Hard skills (computer programs) are often easier to teach than soft skills (patience). [I once hired someone who had no receptionist experience because they were fantastic with people - the rest could be taught.]; and
3) One recent LinkedIn skills survey showed that over 57% of senior managers value soft skills over hard ones.
So, YES, Really: Soft skills.
And, YES, Really: Show, don't tell (wherever possible).
How best to do this?
- Highlight prominent soft skills in your personal statement.
- Have a Skills section that outlines your relevant skills.
- Weave them into your experience, with specific examples of achievements or successes.
