It’s not always a trip to your local guitar store for the “fun stuff”. Today I picked up a bunch more cables (hopefully less noisy then some of the ones I have) and also some @bossfx_us pedalboard cables to try out! Also grabbed some other essentials like oil and detailer polish
A lot of what I do is research, learning from other people, along with my own trial and error.
I must give a shout out to @willwaush and @davesimpson1986 who I believe are the two biggest authorities on nailing John Frusciante’s tone. If you don’t follow them on youtube you must do so immediately. I have learned a lot from watching all of their videos along with adding my own spin to my personal taste. I would not be as close to Frusciante’s tone without either of them pointing me in the - pretty much damn well near perfect - direction.
One thing you will notice from this picture that I wanted to mention is that I have switched back the Big Muff and DS-2 to my original order. To my ears this way sounds more like his lead tone and less of a gainly mess.
Just to add I have never said nor claim that every thing I show is all of my own discovery, but pieces from others in combination with my own ear and taste. All over our admiration of one of the greatest guitarist of all time.
Looking forward to bigger and better things with this page - Justin 🤟🏻 🌶
I think I can finally call this a “Frusciante Board”. Obviously I need the DL4 delay, but for now the Aqua Puss is satisfying my delay needs. Annnndddd... one more pedal is on it’s way, any guesses? 🌶🤟🏻
I spent lots of hours this week putting together a video for my entire @elskagram ambient live set tomorrow night at @honeympls. ——
Video synced up with a live set is one of my favorite things, and I’ve never really done it properly. It was a ton of work and I had too much fun doing it. Hopefully I find a good spot for the projector...
Rehearsing this afternoon. Here’s a peek at a few spots. ——
Audio-wise, I’m going to be playing:
@tascampro Portastudio (fx send to @mrblackpedals Deluxe Plus), @moogsynthesizers Mother-32 —> Minifooger Drive —> @strymonengineering Big Sky, @spitfireaudio Labs Piano, TAL Juno-60, and a couple other internal sounds.
Honey in MPLS
Doors 7pm, I’m on at 7:30
@wearetheprams headline after me.
See you there!
Soooo excited to have this pedal! The filtery sounds in Dani California are so hard to recreate if you do not have the Moog MF-101 or the Line 6 FM4. This video shows both the verse and the bridge parts using the same settings.
