I think I have a few pictures of beach asters below, which I had fun helping to transplant today at @returnofthenatives. One of the other volunteers brought out this great reference guide on local wildflowers. It’s written in 1965 and I wasn’t able to find a copy of it on amazon, so if you had one hiding out on your bookshelf somewhere please let me know. I would love to buy it from you! #wildflowers#asters#beachaster
Woke up in Monterey to this beautiful water. It got me thinking of all those being affected by the wild fires in Malibu and Calabasas. It took me back to many years ago when Malibu got hot pretty hard. Praying for all who have lost their lives and praying for all who fighting to keep people and their homes from burning down 🙏🏻🙏🏻

“We don’t receive wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us.” ~ Marcel Proust
These seasons mark change within the body more than we even know.
Mother Nature has her cycles of darkness and cold ...then light and warm.
We can not stay in summer forever....must have that darkness to appreciate the light.
Even though sometimes I truly really want to 🧡
Mama Nature honors death just as she honors rebirth.
These buds under my feet were in that cycle as well.
Built up to bloom & then stripped back down to the ground.
To start again.
I remember back on Cape Cod sometimes it would feel like the winter...the dark months would never end.
Summer, you lived for summer & it always flew by.
Ironically now in California, now growing up...experiencing, being tested, I feel the “Winter” energetically, the season changes.
I walk Chief on my lunch breaks and I find (no matter what kind of day I’m having) that closing my eyes and feeling the warmth of the sun on my face...even in the ‘darker’ seasons, that is one of my most favorite sensations in the world.
Find the light.
Find your flower patch.
Know that seasons change and shed, bloom & fall....just as you are meant to.
May we slow down to feel the seasons of YOU, to gain that personal wisdom.
Scrunchy morning face 🥰🧡🌤

THIS SATURDAY, November 17! 💣 The City of Monterey is commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Monterey, the only land-sea battle ever on the West Coast. In the afternoon at Old Fisherman’s Wharf, watch as a tall ship enters Monterey Harbor, cannons firing and filled with invading pirates. Besides this re-enactment, there will also be history lectures on the subject. Learn more at facebook.com/cityofmonterey. Thanks to Monterey Harbor staffer AJ Young for capturing this great snap of the tall ship Lady Washington, which will be participating in the re-enactment. You may recognize the ship from Pirates of the Caribbean. The ship is docked at the wharf until November 25.

Late Tuesday, the Governor’s Orca Task Force decided on 36 recommendations that could help save the whales from extinction -- including suspending commercial and recreational whale watching for southern residents for the next 3 to 5 years. The move would reduce boat traffic and help the whales hunt for food.
Suspending whale watching companies from watching the southern resident killer whales doesn’t bring back their food. -
Stop commercial salmon fishing and open net fish farms, open up the dams.
There will still be fishing boats, freighters, tankers which create most of the acoustic disturbances going right through this area.
The whale watch companies are the ones who are teaching the public about these animals as well as helping to protect them.
