When you look at this year long transformation it might look like all I increased was my flexibility, BUT in actuality it's a combination of increased flexibility & strength.
You need to have openness in your hips & splits to be deeper in the pose and you need to have strength in your quad & hip flexor to actually get you to that deeper place.
So our first video here if you swipe left is a split flow you can do to warm up:
Forward fold w/ bent knees
Downward facing dog (lift one leg at a time)
Bring knee into chest
Half split w/ pointed & flexed foot
Complete flow on both sides
And then move into your split!
In every posture focus on keeping your hips squared and your spine long 💪
Then swipe to the last video for a drill to strengthen your quads & hip flexors.
During your bridge hip lifts don't let your hips touch the ground between reps.
You also want to focus on pushing your hip bones to the sky to engage the quads (the tops of your thighs).

No one's studio practice is perfect, no one's home practice is perfect. Its a practice for a reason. What matters is that you show up, no matter the sloppy flow, no matter the space (or lack thereof), you can be just as present juggling children as you can be in silence, in prayer, in transitions, in staying, in breath. You are growing , when you show up. Are you falling or failing? This is good. Are you feeling annoyed? This is good. Are you having trouble with your focus? This is good, these are all recipes for a GREAT practice, if you just show up. Be there. See what is there and learn its lessons. Make magic with it and go on the adventure! Picture perfect is not (always) practice perfect. Most of my greatest triumphs happen when the camera has fallen over 😂 or it has been taken by children 🏃♂️. It has helped me detach from the seeing and taught me more about contentment. Seeing how you're moving is wonderful, but feeling it is even better.
