To honor someone means to give them respect and high esteem, to treat them as special and of great worth. When we speak to our spouse, we should be courteous and polite. When they are speaking to us, we should give them our full attention. Another word that reflects our relationship with our spouse is holy. To be holy means to be set apart for a higher purpose. To us our spouse is honored, praised, and defended. We enter “holy matrimony” when we are married. This means that no other person enjoys this level of commitment and endearment from us.
Because we live in a fallen world, sin exists and we are not married to perfect people. We choose to honor our spouse even when we feel rejected, unloved, or unappreciated. The Bible tells us in Romans 12:10 to be “devoted to one another in love” and to ” honor one another above yourselves”. If our attempts at honor go unreciprocated, we are to give honor just the same.
Here it is.. the Monday, the first of a new month, the day we all wait for.
Today is not my first Day One. In fact I've had dozens of them.. But today is my last Day One.
No more excuses, no more half hearted attempts, no more quitting.
So here was Day One - it consisted of a failed attempt at a healthy breakfast, some cravings, some giving in to the cravings, a mirror talk to get my ass to the gym, winning that talk and actually getting to the gym, an incredible workout, bonding over cooking at home, meal prep, and hitting my daily h2o goal.
