The TSI love❤️
After driving a reasonable number of hatchback's its easy to love this little fun to drive hatch, the GT tsi.
While those who prefer the manual may opt for the GTtdi ( which too is seriously fun to drive in its own way!) the Tsi offer's its own kind of fun by offering a fast shifting 7 speed dq200 transmission.
The engine and gearbox combo is what makes this vw different from the others. The more you drive it the more you will fall in love with it and adding to the ownership experience is the fact that these cars are pretty customisable.
But she's not without her problems!
a) the brakes are too weak for such a car. An upgrade is a must. Even the pedal feel wasn't up to the mark which was a downer. Mine has been upgraded to black diamond rotors which makes a world of a difference.
b) The steering doesn't offer much feel and feed back. I saw that cause our ford figo offers better steering feel than this vw. The steering also doesn't come with any paddle shifter's but that's an easy fit , you can get many aftermarket ones though they are expensive.
c) The headlights! They are so weak and their throw is pretty poor.
d) reliability. Yeah! You knew this would be coming and the biggest reason for that is the transmission!
The dq200 is a dry clutch unit which did have many issues in the past. Though vw says it has been sorted we gotta wait longer to accept that!
Even with these issues in mind the tsi is still a fun to drive and a convenient car to live with and add to that is the fact that its still a safe car scoring pretty decent in the crash test!
Get it tuned and put and aftermarket exhaust and yeah its even more fun!
So instead of doing individual posts to wrap up Barrett Jackson and Russo and Steele, here’s a slideshow of the best photos. The rest will be on my story and highlights. Genesis pictures will now resume. 🔵
