Does anyone else have a sewing New Year where you stop, finish up nagging home dec or mending projects and really think about what you want to work on next? For me, it's always the summer. Right now, I'm taking a break from sewing and - gasp - blogging, and taking the time to refine my style.
I'm doing the @seamworkmag#designyourwardrobe program for the next four weeks so I can plan my ultimate capsule for fall/winter. I'm trying to make sure that I make clothes that I feel great in every day and trying to continue the learning I made during #mmmay18.
I'm going to do a post about capsules when I'm done and I'm wondering if anyone out there has resources, tips or questions that I should include in my post. Send anything you've got my way!

#naehenmachtgluecklich#naehenisttoll#naehen#naehenverbindet#naehliebe#naehdirwas#patternandclothes#handmadewardrobe#sewingproject#sew#easypattern#patternrelease#sewcialists#sewcialistsofinstagram#memademay2018#mmmay18#naehblogger_de
This mock-neck tee was in my #mmmay18 stories, but it has earned a place on the grid. Off-white cotton rib-knit, with my self-drafted tee pattern. I traced the new neckline off a McCalls jumpsuit. The end result is a perfect upgraded basic for work-wear. And it pairs beautifully with this RTW skirt that I finally took in at the waist. FYI- ripping seams out of loose tweed is not fun. And posing for pics after a long day of meetings isn’t fun either. #handmadewardrobe#millennialsewing#mendandmakedo
My favorite wrap dress I've made! Perfect for that person who likes to prance around through meadows of wild flowers. That's not me though, it's WAY too hot for that sh%t.
Fabric: good old @whoawaitwalmart
On my way to work, and as I was leaving I realised I’m wearing my two Burda Easy coats🤣🤓: one made as a sweater (grey), and one made as a jacket (navy). I’m also wearing my belcarra blouse that #mmmay18 made me appreciate more. #burda#sewaholicpatterns
This tencel twill from @imaginegnats is a dream! Perfect weight for a summer skirt. The pattern is my own, and I tried out a waistband method Ive never used before!
I've finally figured out the setup of a blog on my own URL (damn coding syntax). Sooo my sewing blog will be up soon!

Sooo, sometimes “details soon” means “when I can finally get to it”... 😂 If you saw this post in my #mmmay18 stories, you know what I’m talking about! I made the @closetcase.patterns#kalleshirtdress to wear on my birthday, because that’s what sewists do, right? I knew I wanted something comfortable but I also felt like dressing up a bit, as I had planned a day out with the husband. It was a really warm day and this Kalle made in a linen blend was perfect. 😍 Yes, it’s pretty wrinkly but, it’s linen, so that’s just how it goes. I’ve always loved the way linen becomes softer and develops that “broken-in” look the more it’s worn. Put in on again today (98 degrees!!!) and it was fabulous. I’m sure you’ll see more of these in my feed. ❤️
My first @chalkandnotch Fringe Dress! Absolutely love this pattern! I used indie folk @artgalleryfabrics rayon from fabric.com, and it might be the most beautiful fabric I've ever seen! And it's soft and flowy!
Are you sewing for the 4th of July? 🎉 This scalloped skirt is the perfect way to add a pop of color into your wardrobe! ❤️

Hello sewing friends, I know I don't owe an explanation for my two month absence, but it feels weird to start posting again without explaining where I have been. So here goes:
First off, I've been great. I'm enjoying my best summer since having babies. This is my first summer in 6 years without a baby inside of me or attached to me and we are making the most of it.
At first I took some time off to paint. It took a month to complete phase 1 of 4 on our home refresh. I missed the most important month of a garment sewists social media life - Me Made May. Of course I didn't really miss taking my daily selfie as much as I missed seeing all of yours. But y'all, my house isn't a brown cave anymore. I can see light everywhere and you might actually see some indoor pictures on this grid in the future.
I was anxious to get back into my studio while painting, but when we neared a stopping point instead of finishing the two Cheyenne tunics I had started several weeks prior, I went for a run instead. That run revived my daily workout routine and my health saw a significant improvement since PPD. I forgot how much I loved fitness - Not as much as sewing of course, but a lot. Now I am training for a triathlon at the end of July. We'll see how it goes, but my gut is that there will be more.
I did eventually make it back into my studio to finish those Cheyennes and a few other things. Now I have a backlog of posts. I intend to start posting again, but I'll keep to an inconsistent summer rhythm. I've really benefited from stepping back and focusing on my family and my health and I want to continue doing that this summer. Hopefully I can strike a balance of all the things that I love. I have taken time off like this before, and it has always been good. It's been fun to jump back in with y'all and pick up where I left off. This community is always alive, always arms wide open and never leaving anybody behind. If you are afraid to take time off because you don't want to miss out, Don't be. You can jump right back in. There is always a new pattern, a new fabric, a new season, a new member to the community and a new make to celebrate. Try it.
Pattern details in comments.

i sewed this jumpsuit!
i was in over my head with this "advanced beginner" pattern (lol), but i'm pretty happy with it!
shortened bodice and legs by 1.5" each, took legs in by 3" to address heavy fabric, lowered back by 2" to avoid invisible zipper, and only did half of the burrito all-in-one facing because i had a fit over the second strap. buuut worth it; i've worn it so many times.

Today was a linen and solid colors kinda day. Still really enjoying this blue and orange complementary colors kick. Top is from a vintage 80s pattern and skirt is a #blueprintsaframe 💙🧡🙌 #mmmay18

Et voilá, another #hinterlanddress in buttery, pinstripe linen from @purewhitespa. This design is SO close to ready for testing! I completed the dress over four days, little by little, usually with a four year-old on my lap. So much is possible by taking one step at a time. 🖤 #mmmay18

Nearly the end of #mmmay18 musings... I only started sewing clothes a couple of years ago after watching #thegreatbritishsewingbee
I was inspired to dust off my machine which had previously done a lot of quilting but I had no idea where to begin with clothes. I decided that if they could do it so could I, so alongside my amazing friends @indigorocket and @the_considered we spent every Thursday evening sewing. I couldn’t have done it without them (😘). Now I have an almost handmade wardrobe and as I turn 45 I feel like I’ve re-found my style, which can be a difficult thing to do as you transition through life. After scrutinising my makes this month I have a really clear direction of what I want to make in the future. Thanks to @sozoblog for me made may, the daily inspiration and feedback from so many talented and kind people has been awesome.

Here's the round-up of my looks from #mmmay18 . 😄 I was so inspired by the many looks out there and I now have so many patterns on my radar. Now, the next crafty endeavor is the Outfit Along, which has perfect timing because I am so inspired. #memademay2018

It’s the last couple of days of Me-Made-May 2018!
How’s everyone been doing with their pledges this year?
Mine has totally fallen by the wayside... 🤣. I wear me-mades pretty much everyday but my efforts to wear my less worn garments didn’t really pan out!
Well there’s always next year!

#mmmay18 is coming to an end. That’s a shame. I have enjoyed it this year. Nice to wear some of my old stuff and some my new stuff. So grateful for all the likes and very kind feedback. Today’s dress is self drafted and suitable for a posh lunch with a colleague who is leaving. Fabric from @fabricgodmother Also to see everyone else’s outfits. Such a celebration of makers ingenuity and creativity. Such a joy to view. Thank you, everyone, who makes life more beautiful every day! And thanks as ever to the inspirational @sozoblog.

I am still trying to figure out how @sew_everyday made this beautiful Kalle shirt. I think it's an embroidery technique on the shirt, and I am LOVING the proportion of the faux bib; what a special piece!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
06 | a fav Kalle Shirt for a friends birthday party today (and now time for a rest on the couch). Worn with RTW jeans (30+ wears) which is a good reminder to me to finish my me-made pair already! #email@example.com#closetcasepatterns

And that's a wrap! I had so much fun participating in Me Made May and checking out some of the amazing participants from around the world. 🔹 I wore something I made every day and took photos of some things I'd never documented before, finished up some old projects (2 of those still to post), and learned a lot about how to best focus my time and energy into making things I want to wear, like my @marillawalker#robertscollection jumpsuit.
🔹 So happy to share this fulfilling hobby with you all -- thank you for following along! 😘 #mmmay18
