portrait of a once very empty and lonely woman, stuck in a vicious cycle of binge eating and bulimia. a troubled woman who measured her self worth based on what society told her was beautiful. then one day, she woke up, realized her worth, and took that power back. she realized that beauty wasn’t about the size of her body or the numbers on the scale or the number of men that expressed interest in her—it never was. she learned that true beauty isn’t something money can buy; it comes from within; it’s the love that you cultivate for yourself first, that only then you can give away to others ✌🏼 #woke#kalejunkie 📷 @jcamphoto

#ViceDetox of caffeine, alcohol and added sugar is still a go as there’s about a week left in April. While giving up alcohol and caffeine have been relatively easy (thank goodness for decaf lattes), giving up added sugar has been harder than I thought. 🥧I always crave something sweet post meal, whether it’s chocolate, ice cream or a piece of gluten-free cinnamon raisin toast so I’ve had to get pretty creative with finding sugar-free alternatives to things such as stevia or medjool dates. ⠀⠀
🧁Case in point: Blueberry cobbler with almond meal crust and pure stevia from @purisure to sweeten. This has been a godsend for sweetening up items without the guilt and the effect on your blood sugar! When finding a stevia product, I was surprised to find that even stevia items labeled “natural” actually had fillers and other additives. @purisure was the only I came across that ONLY had pure stevia, straight from the plant, and nothing else. A little goes a looonnnnggg way as too much can leave a bitter aftertaste. 🥧
🍫I’ve had a few moments of added sugar filled #healthyhedoism (thanks @phoebelapine)but if nothing else, I’ve been more conscious of how much added sugar I reach for and make sure to think twice about how much I want something AND if I can make something just as good and better for me in my own kitchen. 🌱Healthy, mindful eating is an ongoing practice and perfection is not a requirement. ✌🏻 ⠀⠀ #healthyhappylife#mindandbody#nourishyourself#mindbodygram#holistichealth#holisticwellness#naturalhealth#eatwell#healthylifestyle#stevia#blueberrycobbler#sweets#ipreview via @preview.app

What a beautiful day for some psychoeducation!
If you’re constantly battling with your own negative assumptions about yourself, your world and the people living in it... you are not alone. I challenge you to rework some of your negative assumptions. You’re not wrong for having these assumptions... YOU are valid. The brain loves to make assumptions. It’s constantly searching for patterns. But the assumptions we make can actually damage our ability to relate to others, and can impede our ability to think clearly. Assumptions can be truly harmful! The good news is that we can stop the assumption making, and improve our overall mood and level of anxiety.
TRY THIS: If you catch yourself making an assumption CHALLENGE IT! Ask yourself what a healthier thought could be... What facts do you have to prove the thought? Ask yourself if this is an opinion of yours or if it is an assumption based on something you were taught.
This process requires a lot of self compassion!! Withhold judgment... this is a process. Healing is not linear 😌
warmer weather calls for ice cream 🍦😛 salted, malted chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate gooey brownie. enjoyed this the other day and i can’t stop thinking about how delicious it was. hope you’re all having a wonderful day so far! #andapinchoflove

How do you hold yourself accountable? We all have different motivational tactics that keep us focused and stay on track. My biggest one is an ACCOUNTABILITY BUDDY! It’s so much fun to have a friend/significant other or anyone really to buddy up with and set goals together.
It really does help, y’all! I run faster 100% of the time when I’m working out with a friend (cough cough today @loganaew 😜)
Grab a buddy and set some goals! Whether it’s carpooling to the gym, meal prepping together, signing up for the same fitness class at a studio, or grabbing a healthy bite together - having someone to do it with is a game changer!
Tag your accountability buddy in the comments and get excited to stay on track together! 🙌🏼

Time >> there will never be enough of it.⏰ If something is a priority, you have to make time for it. ⠀
Sometimes it means working a packed 12-hour day ⬆ and then putting more work into those priorities. That could be working out, a side hustle, or something else. It definitely won’t always be convenient. You have to decide that you really want it and make that commitment to yourself. If it’s truly something that’s important to you, you won’t regret it. ⠀
And, if it isn’t something that you really want, then that’s ok too. Sometimes you just have to be honest with yourself about your priorities.🧡⠀
How do you find time for the things that are important to you? ⠀

I've been a little obsessed with Dr. Joe Dispenza's books lately. Here's a powerful excerpt from Becoming Supernatural that I had to share...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"As our senses record incoming information from the environment, clusters of neurons organize into networks. When they freeze into a pattern, the brain makes a chemical that is then sent throughout the body. That chemical is called an emotion. We remember events better when we can remember how they feel. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The stronger the emotional quotient from any event—either good or bad—the stronger the change in our internal chemistry. When we notice a significant change inside of us, the brain pays attention to whoever or whatever is causing the change outside of us—and it takes a snapshot of the outer experience. That’s called a memory. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Therefore, the memory of an event can become branded neurologically in the brain, and that scene becomes frozen in time in our gray matter. The combination of various people or objects at a particular time and place from that stressful experience is etched in our neural architecture as a holographic image.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s how we create a long-term memory. Therefore, the experience becomes imprinted in the neural circuitry, and the emotion is stored in the body—and that’s how our past becomes our biology. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In other words, when we experience a traumatic event, we tend to think neurologically within the circuitry of that experience and we tend to feel chemically within the boundaries of the emotions from the event, so our entire state of being—how we think and how we feel—becomes biologically stuck in the past."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

like mcdonalds grilled chicken caesar wraps, but better😏
these are probably my new favorite thing to make. im not a big ceasar dressing person in general (something about eating raw eggs, anchovies and cheese together 🤷🏻♀️) but i used cashews to make a plant-based version. mixed that in with kale, chickpeas, quinoa and grilled chicken for the filling, then topped onto @sietefoods chickpea flour tortillas. the. besttt. hope your wednesday is going well!
cashew-caesar dressing recipe:
1/2 cup raw cashews
1 cloves garlic
1 tsp. salt + pepper
4 tbsp. nutritional yeast
1 tbsp. dijon mustard
3 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup olive or avocado oil (i used 🥑)
1 small piece of yellow bell pepper
whisk oil, mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a small bowl until combined. add to a handheld blender with everything else and pulse for 30 seconds, adding water 1 tsp. at a time if needed. store in an airtight container for up to two weeks!

Cheers to the best ice cream, my favorite city, and new beginnings.🍦I’ve been laying low on social media for the last two weeks or so because I’ve been so busy getting everything in order for my biggest move (and our biggest move) yet. I’m BEYOND excited to let you all in on what’s been going down with me and with us: we have officially moved into our apartment in SEATTLE after I committed to a dream job of mine out here. The last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind, and even though the days right now are jam-packed, long, and a bit unsettled, we’re feeling at home and feeling grateful for the opportunity to grow together, and individually in this new experience. Over the next few days as I get back into this ‘gram space, I’ll be sharing some thoughts and feelings I’ve been having about what I want the future of this page to be, and continuing to evolve through this space just as I do in my personal and professional life. Everything a process, believe me. As I sit here in the midst of boxes, unpacked suitcases, and unassembled furniture (an in serious in need of a grocery haul), I can’t help but feel so incredibly grateful, excited, nervous, and at home.🌷 #kelseybell#seattlelife#newbeginning#iamwellandgood

GABA is like the breaks for your brain. It balances out stimulating neurotransmitter activity so you can feel calm, relaxed, and get great sleep.
But GABA deficiency is very common and one of the main problems when you feel like you just can't get your stress under control.
GABA Deficiency Symptoms:
⚡Anxiety & Panic
⚡Insomnia (Usually likes to fall asleep watching TV or listening to something as a distraction.)
⚡Restlessness, excitability, & feeling of inner tension
⚡Restless mind that doesn't "turn off."
⚡Can't calm down.
⚡Inattention & ADD/ADHD
⚡Takes on too much and experiences overwhelm.
⚡Experiences worry and dread.
In yesterday's post, I shared some herbs and supplements that are helpful to increase GABA and relieve GABA deficiency symptoms. But to create a meaningful and long term change for your health, we need to investigate why GABA became deficient.
Some common causes of GABA deficiency are:
⚡Blood Sugar Imbalance
⚡Malabsorption, gluten sensitivity, or celiac disease
Do you see how supplements are important, but we have to use them the right way? It would not make sense to give someone supplements to increase GABA if the cause of the low GABA is poor circulation. In that example, we have to improve the circulation to heal the GABA deficiency.
Who wants to learn more about GABA and how to heal these problems? Let me know in the comments.

Find your people and spend time with them. Stop searching for them and attract then into your life. Weather it’s a partner, new friends, or broader community you’re after, spend time doing the things you love, spend time doing the things that will make you the person you want to be and you’ll meet your people. Don’t operate from a scarcity mentality. You’ll meet them, and then cherish them. 💙 #freetothrive
