What is Mobilization?🤨
More specifically, joint mobilization.
It is one of the most commonly used techniques used in a Manual Osteopathy treatment. 🙌🏽
The Manual Osteopath performs passive movements on a patient’s synovial joints throughout the body to gain a therapeutic effect.
📚A synovial joint joins bones with a fibrous joint capsule filled with synovial fluid. Also known as a diarthrosis, it is continuous with the joined bone’s periosteum forming the outer boundary of the synovial cavity and surrounding the articulating surfaces. Some examples are the knee, shoulder, neck, lumbar, etc.
The benefits that one can achieve from this are:
✨Increased Range of Motion
✨Improved Joint Flexibility
✨Reduce Future Injuries
Mobilization is absolutely amazing in the treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions such as:
⭕️Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
& there are so many more! Even the occasional twang of pain that pops up in your low back, knee, hip (& or wherever else in the body) after doing heavy lifting / activity- mobilization techniques can help.😃🤗

It's so freaking cold outside.
I suffer from getting chapped lips during this time. If you do too, here's a great what to do or not list posted by the today show.
Don't pick or lick your lips!! Those two I always preach.
And use a great lip balm.

Hip Abduction Machine. This machine has made a come back into my routine, especially since I fell down the stairs about eight weeks ago and hurt my left ankle badly. The injury took out my fav walking lunges from my routine, but I figured I would throw in some static isolation exercises. The good: this machine certainly strengthens the abductors of the hip. Today I did my new PB at 235 lbs for 10 reps. Yay! The bad: it’s not the most functional exercise. How often do you end up in seated position using your hip abductors’ max strength in isolation? 🧐 ... not much. In fact I don’t know if at all! 🤓. But why not get stronger and then use this strength to make lunges and squats better? 😉💃🏼 The Ugly: this machine is built for taller people. I’m 5’3’’ (and a quarter) and I’m not even close to be able to rest my back against the seat. It also doesn’t allow for a full range as I find myself sliding on that seat. I have seen women (not men for some reason 🤔) doing this exercise standing in a squat like position facing the seat to get the maximum contraction I believe... but I haven’t tried that yet. All in all it’s a ‘seasonal’ exercise for me, or a starter for those who are just starting workout or are rehabbing an injury. 🍵 Jalapeno Cheddar Soup for the win on this snowy Sunday ❄️
Cold winter days call for soup, so that's what we did today. This recipe was SO easy AND delicious 😋 (we'll link it in our bio). If your kitchen doesn't have an #instantpot GO get yourself one NOW!! The recipe calls for a Dutch oven and slow cooker but why dirty all those dishes when your instant pot can do it all (it has a saute and slow cook function)?! We're big fans of tweaking recipes to suit tastes and/or dietary needs too, so that's what we did. We didn't have sharp cheddar and with 40 cm of snow outside we weren't going out to get it either so marble sufficed this time around. We also used a little less to help cut calories 🧀⬇️👍
*Also, how cute was my help today?! It's important to start teaching kids about healthy eating and try to involve them in meal prep at an early age to promote lifelong healthy habits. Joe is 2 1/2 and he's a pro at setting the table (we have #corelle dishes), emptying the dishwasher, and taste testing 😏 Today he was practicing his peeling with the 🥕

Started this title from Oxford’s Very Short Introduction series earlier this week and I’m positively reveling in its incisive discussion of the English literary canon. While I’ll admit I began my reading with the expectation that this book would provide more of a chronological overview of English Literature, I have been just as satisfied with its actual content, which is a discussion of the definition of literature, the cultural process by which works of literature are incorporated into the canon, and a handful of salient themes in English Literature. And that’s all in the first half of the book - who knows what the second half will bring! 🤓 .
