1976 Jaguar XJ12 running full 12 cylinder sequential with MS3Pro
This was a really cool project for us, and we're very pleased with the results. The customer came to us with his XJ12 that he has owned since 1978, and was tired of the reliability issues associated with the Lucas fuel injection that had come on the car from the factory. It was the most ancient of fuel injection systems, and was overly sensitive to any changes in temperature. Attempts at moderinizing the ignition system with MSD components had only helped slightly. It still didn't like to start when it was cold, wouldn't always run smoothly, and was never running efficiently.
We were commissioned to modernize the engine management on the Jaguar V12 and make it something that could be considered reliable. We started with the fuel system. We built our own custom fuel lines and fuel rails which were adapted for some custom injectors built for us by @fuelinjectorconnection. We designed and had manufactured mounting brackets for the fuel rails, and block off plates for the cold start fuel injectors that used to run into the intake manifold.
With the fuel system taken care of, we next focused on the ignition system. We went with #BoschMotorsport ignition coils and mounted them between each intake runner with custom hardware.
To make all of the injectors and coils play nicely together, we utilized the @diyautotune MS3Pro ECU, stuffed into a custom enclosure along with a Bosch LT2 Sport oxygen sensor control module. We then combined the custom control box with an (almost) Milspec full engine harness. Special thanks to @ksvlooms for the inspiration on the 'money-box' ECU housing. Sensors were modernized where needed, and added where they didn't exist before. The distributor was converted into a camshaft position sensor with some custom designed parts, and a timing wheel was added to the front crank hub for a crank sensor.
The end result is a car that starts and runs flawlessly every time, regardless of ambient or engine temps.
