Do you love where you live?
I was talking with a friend today about how people choose their location in which to live and it got me thinking.
For me it’s definitely family and friends that have the most impact on where I live.
What about you? Why do you live where you do?
It’s hard to believe that it has almost been a year since Stephanie and Travis’s wedding. We designed their wedding to have a spring awakening vibe. Looking back at the photos from their day gets us excited for the spring weddings ahead!
If I’m shooting you later this year, take outfit notes from these two paaaleeease. They nailed it. Her hat. The denim. The loose curls and dark jacket 👌🏻 Just everything. I want you to feel like you, that’s the most important thing. But like you in your element being all cute, bomb, and having fun you. Take this outfit, run with it, and make it your own. Double tap if you agree 😍
Space. It’s a term we’ve been thinking about lately. Space to explore. Space to ask questions. Space to be who you are without fear or worry. And that’s something really cool about marriage. When you find the person who best gives you the space you need to process and live life, that’s you’re partner. They support you, all of you. And love you, all of you. ⠀
This is an aspect of marriage I didn’t truly realize until recently. Aaron and I have longed for it, so we created space in several areas of life. Let me be clear, I’m not talking about ignoring each other. No, not that at all. It’s more of a leaning in, but without trying to perfect it/us. We no longer try to fix each other. Instead we notice and give each other the space we need to feel how we feel in that moment. To be who we are and to know that we are both safe. It’s in those safe spaces where we learn how to be brave and how to grow. 🌱

The morning after a wild night in the garden... I got to spend a day with some of my favorite designers in Grand Rapids. They’re all tagged here and you should check them out because they are amazing. @hyssop.floral (my flower soul sister) turned me into a flower goddess and I think the end result turned out so wildly beautiful. I’m so thankful to be surrounded by so many inspiring women. Photo by @hyssop.floral
What a freakin week it’s been at the Farm. I had my first flower - a sweet little lavender anemone (waiting for it open in my house). Screamed a little. Did a little happy dance. But I also lost a big portion of my ranunculus under one of my tunnels. I ended up buying more to sprout this week as a experiment to see how spring planted corms do. Damn this whole farming thing is hard - learning to be patient and kind to myself. Pictured is a Fritallaria imperialis from @mayeshwholesale. It’s magical.

One of our favorite reception locations we've ever photographed. This wasn't an official venue at all, but rather the bride's grandmother's property in rural Minnesota. She had a vision of a wedding in the woods, and her family came together and cleared a space right in the middle of the tall pines. What a dream.
