last wednesday i pulled my neck. the ironic part was that i pulled it in child’s pose, while prepping a yoga sequence for my weekly semi-private class. it was so bad that i really couldn’t move and even lying down was a challenge. my immediate reaction was extreme frustration with a large splash of denial.
over the next few hours i tried to test my limits…to see if i could just “power through it” to teach my class that evening. after a few hours of unsuccessfully trying to ignore my pain, i finally bit the bullet and rescheduled the class.
my body is there, time and time again, to remind me when my brain is too in control. it likes to give me a gentle kick in the butt to remind me that despite my attempts, i’m not a superhuman and need to take it down a notch - especially when i don’t think i need to (because thinking is kinda the crux of the problem 🙃).
sometimes we fight against the reality of a situation when really all we need to do is just surrender. let go of what could have been or what once was for what is happening now. the sooner you embrace the beauty of this moment, the sooner you will begin to tune in to what you’ve been missing in the periphery. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

World Meditation Day 2019 🧘🏻♀️✨
Meditation has been a part of my life, on and off, for 10 years now. I first discovered the practice to help with depression and anxiety, and for a while I would meditate regularly. It helped, but I didn’t keep up with it for one reason or another. Since then, I’ve found myself needing to meditate without really knowing why. I know now it’s because of how it makes me feel. For the past couple of years I’ve meditated regularly. People often get confused about what meditation is, so here are my thoughts - these aren’t right or wrong, it’s just from my perspective.
♡ The definition of meditation is: “a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing their mind on a particular object, thought or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.” (from Wikipedia). To me, this was once something that I wasn’t sure how to achieve, and I tried a lot of techniques, often overthinking the process. Meditation does not have to me a complicated practice.
♡ I personally find meditating using guided meditation on YouTube or Spotify, or using techniques such as Kundalini mantras and chanting, sound bowls and drumming (again, either YouTube or Spotify, or in person) to be most beneficial for me. I put my phone on to Do Not Disturb, sit in a comfy position - crosslegged, straight back, shoulders relaxed, soft brow and jaw; or laying down on my back - and begin to deepen my breaths. This can confuse some people, as they don’t know how to deepen their breath without inducing anxiety and their heart rate. I was the same - I started by breathing quickly rather than deeply, but now I mindfully breathe in for a count of 5 or 6 (this works for me, everyone is different) and feel my lungs fill with refreshing air as my belly expands. I hold for a count of 1 or 2 - whatever feels natural - and then let out a long exhale, often sighing. This will help with relaxation, but try not to overthink it. It shouldn’t feel difficult or hard work.
♡ As I begin to relax, I go inward. To me, that’s a place of letting my thoughts come and go without giving the

Wow. So if allowing one's self to rest, relax, be mindful and creative can have these benefits can you imagine how much healthier we would be as a collective if we all took some time to still ourselves? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ok I’ve been back in the UK a week now, I’d like to go back and sit by the river in Bergerac now please and thank you .
We are not quite getting to France, but Nik and I are hoping for a few days in The Cotswolds after this round of chemo that starts Friday. He will drop for two weeks, but on his good week we hope to go.
I’m looking at areas, any recommendations for somewhere not to touristy and busy???
