My first attempt at 'paint pouring'...
I am quite pleased with the end result (I just need to define some of the letters a bit more with some white paint). This project gave me the same feels as when I felt compelled to tie dye everything (I still stockpile white clothing for when inspiration strikes😁)...I am mostly lost with paint and a brush, but I could absolutely pour more paint on canvas! 😄
My mom gifted me the quote a few years ago, and I could never bring myself to commit it to just one spot on a wall...When I received the canvas from my late grandmother, I realized it was the perfect size for this quote, and so fitting because she was always so supportive of my passion for photography. 💙
Art is always meaningful, and I always enjoy creating things..but, for me, this creation will always be especially significant. 💜

One of my favorite scriptures for when I get caught up in the daily whirlwind of to-dos. Why are we really here? What really matters? What am I doing to make it count?
Lady Godiva by John Collier - 1897
Godiva, Countess of Mercia, in Old English Godgifu, was an English noblewoman who, according to a legend dating at least to the 13th century, rode naked – covered only in her long hair – through the streets of Coventry to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation that her husband imposed on his tenants.
The spirit of Aloha in action.✨ .
Really grateful for the warm community I’ve connected with here in Kauai so far since moving here full-time in October. I’ve wanted to learn how to make a Hawaiian lei for quite awhile now but just haven’t found the right moment yet to do so.
Yesterday that creative floral dream became a reality thanks to the oh so kind, talented,
and generous @flowersbyemmakauai. .
I had the pleasure of meeting Emma yesterday in Kilauea and connected with her in a short time as she was creating some living art made with love. Upon finishing she paused before leaving and asked if I would like to learn to make lei myself? After an emphatic yes!, 30 mins later she returned arms full of flowers and gifted me a lei she had made herself, and the flowers, string, and needle needed to make my own. Having had just met me, she then slowed down in her day and sat down and gave me a free lesson and patiently showed me how to
create my own.
Pure magic! Emma you’re amazing!! I can’t thank you enough and I am so happy our paths crossed here on the island. .
Friends, if you have any flower or lei needs for weddings or events or want to take a lei making workshop in Kauai reach out to @flowersbyemmakauai for the most beautiful earthly art designed from the heart.💙🙏✨
Start with the end in mind. Fit the details into the simplified whole. Too many times we lose sight of the big picture and start to focus on the details. We lose perspective because our eyes are focusing on these details out of relationship to the whole picture. When this happens our picture falls apart, becomes chaotic and broken up. Keep track of your BIG IDEA 💡 in art and in life. ❤️ #artteacher#stilllifepainting#artlessons
