It’s not even Monday and I already feel it’s gonna be a kick ass week 😏 (📷: @avrilmathie)
Today was mine and my bestest friends last ever run. We have both hung up our running shoes.
Lenon is to old to run with me any more and has started to struggle, so it's time for him to retire, and me it's just way to painful. I have psoriatic arthritis which has badly affected my feet and I am losing mobility. So in a bid to stay as mobile as I can for as long as I can I have decided after 10 years of running it was time to give it up.
It's very hard to mentally make that shift and adjust my expectations because in my head I can still run 6+ miles not a problem as long as the music let's me in, but my feet will not allow it. The acceptance for the situation I find myself in is so bloody hard, but it's got to be done.
New focus new me ❤ -
"When you reach an obstacle, turn it into an opportunity. You have the choice. You can overcome and be a winner, or you can allow it to overcome you and be a loser. The choice is yours and yours alone. Refuse to throw in the towel. Go that extra mile that failures refuse to travel. It is far better to be exhausted from success than to be rested from failure." -- Mary Kay Ash.
Snow. Ice. The polar vortex. The warm up. More ice. More snow. This winter has had no mercy on my training. When you can physically see your obstacle it’s easy to let it defeat you. These obstacles test my limits and I want to answer back that I have none. They won’t break me, they can only strengthen me by overcoming it. Fear is always there but I choose to combat it with courage. You may see me fail but you’ll never see me quit. I am willing to accept a lifetime of failure trying to reach my dream of professionally running. Why? Because nothing sets fire to my soul like running has. .

For a long time I did what I thought other people wanted me to do. In fitness and career, it was both the same. ‘My parents probably want me to do this, so that’s what I’ll do.’ Finally I decided to show up for myself.
I wanted a career in fitness, so I got myself a business mentor and I started putting in the work.
I wanted to enjoy my fitness, so I stopped chasing numbers and started doing what felt good.
You want your life to look a certain way? Are you showing up for yourself and taking action to get to that point?
Only you have the power. It won’t just happen. Be the change you so badly want. And as @jasonphillips_in3 says... GO ALL IN.
