I’ve got a playlist full of songs that’ll make me cry and/or scream on demand. You may say listening to music for the sole purpose of generating negative emotions is a very dramatic and unhealthy thing to do. All I know is when I don’t get them out, it feels like I’m a clogged drain from my throat to my stomach.
I started this whole cry baby playlist thing about a month ago when I was having a particularly difficult time getting certain emotions out of me. Definitely in the room but locked up, close but just out of reach, real but inaccessible. I’ve tried to just make myself cry or scream, I’ve tried to stew on what happened long enough for emotions to come — the idea being that thoughts would balloon into feelings that would pop and unclog the drain. But thinking long and hard about something doesn’t always produce the results you want.
This process can feel like tasting something that you can’t quite identify the flavor of so you slap your tongue against the roof of your mouth, tilt your head to the side, squint your eyes, take another bite. To no avail. Was it lavender? Jasmine? Let me have another bite.
Like that, except the feelings don’t ever fully erupt—that or it takes a very long time.
So the songs are just a way to jump-start the process. It’s really an efficiency thing: I don’t have all day to be feeling all the ways, ya hear?
Alternatively, I could carry on with my day or week and not take the time to unclog the drain. But I can speak from personal experience here: I would not recommend this.
Simply-put, this is why I force myself to get feelings out of me: resentment is a sneaky bastard, lurking around every corner of my unfelt feelings. Most of the time, I haven’t even known he was there.
And from here on out, I intend to give everyone whom I love this most precious gift: the gift of resentment-free relationship, the gift of assuming the best, the gift of belief in their God-given goodness.
And I can’t give those things when I don’t deal with my negative emotions. So, cry baby playlist it is.
💥DAY 1 VS TODAY 💥
Being healthy or becoming healthy is not a destination. It’s not a goal that you check off your list. It’s not a sprint to the finish line
It’s saying yes to healthy foods and exercise. It’s focusing your energy on treating yourself right 💞 It’s finding the balance to still go out and enjoy the drink or dessert and still be able to wake up the next day and be proud of the body you are building 💪🏻
It’s tempting to want a quick fix (believe me, I’ve been there) but your results only last as long as the effort you’re willing to put forth. 👊🏻
If you want to enjoy life everyday and like what you see in the mirror you’ve got to take the little steps everyday to get you there 👌🏻
This is a visual representation of my own journey over the last 2 years. The first day and today. I’ve been up and down and shredded and not, I even sat out of the game for 10 weeks with a broken leg. The thing is I SHOW UP EVERYDAY and I don’t give up 💪🏻
There is no finish line. This is my journey and I DARN proud of myself. I’m far from perfect, I enjoy cookies way too much but I’ve still been able to maintain my result ✌🏻 years later
We are all work in progress. Showing up for yourself is not easy all the time. Let’s be real some days are freakin HARD‼️ JUST DON’T GIVE UP‼️
If you are looking for a “quick fix” I’m not your girl. If you are looking for a lifestyle change let’s chat. I have a new group starting in the New Year with a BRAND NEW PROGRAM and I would love for you to see what you can really do / become
We get one life. There are no do overs. So STOP waiting for some day and make it happen 👊🏻😉 .
We are what we eat, so we must make sure we are eating real, clean, fresh, vibrant food. Every cell in our bodies use the nutrients and minerals from the foods we eat to function. If our food is nutrient and mineral deficient then our cells struggle to function and become sluggish, sick and can even mutate causing disease in our bodies. Prevention is easy it just means swapping bad foods for good foods and doing it every day. Our health is in our hands and on our fork💚
M O N D A Y ... 🎁 ...is God's gift to us. It's a little opportunity God has presented us with to START over.
Hate where you're headed? Change DIRECTIONS.
Hate the way your food makes you feel? Eat CLEANER.
Hate feeling like you're out of energy? Work-out and get ACTIVE!
Hate feeling like you're getting run over? Stand up for yourself and DO SOMETHING about it!

Self-Love (Part 2):
Disclaimer: Self-love is not just bubble baths and face masks, and it is not as easy as sitting in your bed with an entire pizza as you watch Netflix movies. While that does sound very relaxing, self-love is not a “some-times” thing that we do. Self-love is a daily practice that we make a conscientious effort to incorporate in our lives. Self-love does not come easily to everyone and it is not vanity. Self-love is fully accepting that you’re not perfect, but nobody is so you might as well love who you are. With reference to my previous post, you’re you and there’s no one else who can ever replace you. Whether you know it or not, you have a purpose to fulfill on this planet. Sometimes, we all get so caught up in our lives and sometimes, we’re so focused on making everyone else around us happy, that we neglect our own well-being. We can be so nice to everyone else, but how about we start treating ourselves kindly and loving ourselves for who we are. What you call “imperfections” or “flaws” are actually what makes you beautiful and unique. Accept yourself wholly, forgive yourself and take care of yourself. Never, ever put your mental health on a back-burner. Love yourself and bask in pure bliss. Others are going to experience that glow and warmth that you emit. In case you haven’t heard this before, it is a blessing that you are here. You’re not here by accident. You can do anything that you set your mind to. You are perfect, simply by being you and you are always loved 💕
Fun Fact: This is my Final-Exam Face and no, I’m not that happy and no, I’m not the face of self-love. This is me, embracing the #AuNaturale (under-eye bags and greasy nose, as well as grimy hair). This is me, working toward self-love every single day despite what the world may throw at me. This is me, trying to be better than the person that I was yesterday.

Yes. Do whatever you love and whatever is good for you, as long as you hurt nobody ofc.
If you want to sing, then get yourself a fcking microphone and sing!
If you want to wear a red sweater, then do and it and wear it!
If you want to be yourself, then be your damn self no matter who approve of it or not.
Love yourself and be good.
And pls make sure to take care of your health!
Lemme tell u a little private story about myself. So lately I have such big problems with eating properly. I eat way too less and I just feel like eating nothing. No it’s not because I want to slim.. I always had that but lately it’s getting worse and worse. So I went to doctor.
Ok you might ask yourself why I tell you this boring story you maybe don’t even care bout.. BECAUSE I want to give u an advice.
When your health isn’t good, no matter if it’s mentally or physically please make sure to go to a doctor and get checked!
You never know what’s going on in your body/head and you may can prevent sth if you’re just careful enough & stop taking your health for granted like I did.
I mean I’m grateful but I think I haven’t appreciated enough and now.. I’m not sure what I have, it’s whether an illness or an (mentally) eating disorder. I could have found out earlier or even prevent it.. but I didn’t.
Don’t repeat my mistake. Do it better.
Go to a doctor if you don’t feel good!
Appreciate your health & don’t take it for granted.
Ok enough bye. Ilysm. God bless💗 -Malaika🌼 #selenagomez#selenators#blackdress#health#doctor#loveyourselffirst
