As I read some of Martin Luther King Jr.s words today I was reminded of what a wise teacher man he was. I was astonished by how relevant and timely his message is today. I was inspired to continue to rally, march and speak of things I find unjust. I was reaffirmed in my commitment to volunteer. And I was reminded that in the end communication (even with our “adversaries”) is the key to change. Once again I was reminded LOVE is the answer.
Let’s talk about the comparison game and how often it’s talked about on social media these days. Life has been so great lately, to the point where my husband asked me if I ever suspect that something bad should happen soon. Not gonna lie, the thought occurs often! When life is going so great it’s about time something bad happens, right? Well, my sweet husband made a very solid point. Life can just be good sometimes, and it’s really all about perspective! Guess who has debt to pay off? 🤚 Guess who still lives in a 2 bedroom apartment that had a cricket infestation for 4 months? 🤢🤚 Guess who struggles to be a stay at home mom most days? 🤚 But guess who doesn’t sit there and think about these things until it’s depressing and I’m wanting what someone else has??? Me. In one of my new favorite books “Girl, Wash Your Face” she challenges to write down all the things you have accomplished in the past few years. Guys. DO IT! You will feel like a rockstar and you will realize there’s no point in comparing because you’re the freakin bomb. And you can really accomplish everything through hard times and the good times. Sorry to ramble, but it’s been on my mind because I love my people and I want them to love themselves!!! Find the good in where you’re at and embrace it!

• after I wrote this poem, I stopped and crossed out the first line and it felt like the strongest thing I had done in a long time. (it is not a hope; it is a certainty.)
Love never gives up • no relationship is perfect, but it’s in those imperfect moments you realize that it really is you two versus the world. So blessed to take on all of life’s challenges with you by my side ❤️ #lovewins#brooklyn
