SHOULDER PAIN WITH OVERHEAD PRESS⁉️🙋🏻♀️ ... TRY THESE
A lot of people experience pain with overhead press. This is often due to subacromial impingement (impingement of the structures in the subacromial space which is shown in the picture above). Individuals will typically notice symptoms in the front of the shoulder when raising the arm overhead as this closes down the space between the coraco-acromial arch and the humoral head.
Often the cause of this issue is due to poor motor patterning at the shoulder joint or weakness within the rotator cuff muscles causing functional instability. Therefore, it is important to have a proper assessment of the shoulder in order to determine the underlying cause of pain. Additionally, individuals who continuously do a lot of overhead movements including shoulder press can irritate the tendons or bursa within the subacromial space.
The above exercises can be substituted for straight overhead press exercises at the gym if you often experience pain while doing it.

This week’s commitments include:
-exercising three times a week (40 mins HIIT and 20 mins of resistance training)🚴🏼♀️🏋️♀️ - Getting home cooked food everyday with me to work🍛 -Never skipping breakfast (I always tend to get busy around morning time and end up skipping sometimes)🥪 -

You won't see me post about nutrition a lot because it's my weakness and last night I had chips & salsa & wine 🍷
But I do post about my workouts because it's the one thing I can 100% control and it also keeps me accountable.
It's not always easy, nor should it be. Like HARDio on a Sunday after a full rest day of doing nothing. But something gets done and that's good enough.
Find what works for you, group, text, music, people or journal and plug into it with all you've got & the motivation will find you and a new habit will form!

Moving my body everyday in some way = Gina is a happy girl 🙋🏻♀️ Especially when the ☀️ is shining and I can get out in nature to move.
Today it’s all about walking and getting my 10,000 steps in👟👟👟
How do you like to move your body?
The first picture is about 3 years old. I had just finished a 5k and I was in the best shape of my life. At the time I had just been promoted to Sgt in the Marine Corps and I was lifting, doing Crossfit and training for MMA damn near every day or every other day. The next few years brought post-fight injuries, improper self-care, and a shitty training schedule with all of my traveling. This year I took time to slow down and focus way more on my mental and overall physical health, patiently. Last minute I decided to hop into our Christmas Classic Crossfit comp and after finishing tonight I must say it feels awesome to be able to compete and come out with no injury pain! Still not 100% as I felt back then but I'm excited to catch up to the guy in that first pic soon then pass him. Huge shoutout to my team #ChalkDirtyToMe as well for being awesome partners and kicking ass this weekend!
