@barterbayofficial is donating to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
On Sep 13, more than 150 wigs worth $2500 each that were meant for sick children (cancer patients) at the hospital were stolen. The children had been eagerly waiting for their wigs, but now they have to wait up to two months for new ones.
All children deserve to live a complete and happy life. Giving a small amount to them would not decrease our quality of life, but would uplift theirs tremendously, and bring smiles to their bright faces. Join us in doing a good deed today!
Good morning Vancouver!!! Don’t underestimate the power of thoughts and words. What you tell yourself every morning will set your mind and life on that path. Talk success, victory, happiness and blessings over your destiny.
.. I've never chased anyone. I like to be an example. I like to attract them. I always work hard to be myself. The people who belong in my life come to find me and stay. I always do my own thing ..
“A proper drink at the right time—one mixed with care and skill and served in a true spirit of hospitality—is better than any other made thing at giving us the illusion, at least, that we’re getting what we want from life. A cat can gaze upon a king, as the proverb goes, and after a Dry Martini or a Sazerac Cocktail or two, we’re all cats,” David Wondrich. #imbibe#cocktailculture#talesofacocktail 📷 by @leilalikes

Two more shows at Vancouver Fringe Fest: Saturday 9:50PM and Sunday 4:45PM at Studio 16. Tickets online, at the box office, or at the door (cash only). This is traditional flamenco and English-language poetry. The Georgia Straight says our guitarist Gareth Owen “plays as if he has a hundred fingers”.
Spotlight on Palabra Flamenco’s poet. Me! Loser of the 2014 Governor General’s Lit Award for Poetry. Doer of this or that. Rearer of the most ferocious 14 lb dog this side of Toronto. Former circus master. Former pasta maker. See all this and more! Come to our three FLAMENCO POETRY shows in Vancouver, or our finale in Victoria on Sep 26, so you might dance on the goose’s grave.
Sarah + Tim —> “It was 10:11PM and my ISO was set to 8000 - in Louisiana I would have never thought to shoot that late into the night, but the sky was filled with these shades of blue that I'd never seen before.
The main thing that drew me to documenting this moment was how still Sarah was standing as she watched Tim run off in front of her - it reminded me of one of my favorite poems by John Donne: A Valediction Forbidding Mourning ... almost playing the poem out in their own reality.” - @sophielinberard#CreativeNetworkARC
MIX Facts 🎓 By 1905, Canton and Shanghai alleys had been created on the west side of Carrall Street, along with the construction of new tenement buildings and numerous local businesses. Meanwhile, Chinese establishments had moved eastward on Dupont Street from Carrall Street to Westminster Avenue (renamed Main Street in 1910). By then, Vancouver’s Chinatown eclipsed Victoria’s as the largest Chinatown in Canada. #themoreyouknow
