Who says you can’t lift out 🖤 black 🖤permanent hair color? I’ll do it 🙋🏻♀️
I know there are stylists who would have said absolutely not, and with good reason. When you ask for a change in hair color, there are some things you should consider, ESP if using lightener...
✅Color cannot lift color. This means that if you have previously colored hair, and would like to change it, you can only go darker from your starting point without using bleach or a color remover.
✅Both bleach and color remover will be destructive to your hair, even when used appropriately.
✅If your hair has been previously colored, this WILL affect the outcome and effectiveness of any lightening/coloring process.
✅It WILL most likely require multiple sessions over time. Lighteners have lifting power limited to 45 minutes. At this time, what you see is what you get. Unless you’d like to chop half your hair off, if it doesn’t gum up and fall out first, I recommend being patient.
✅Proper care in between appointments is paramount.
✅Slow & steady WINS. Instead of using a full force lightener, by using a lower volume, for a longer time, it will ensure less destruction to your hair. This will take longer, but we won’t have to chop off 6” of gummy mess at the end.
✅Honesty about what’s been on your hair previously is a MUST. You are not doing yourself any favors by setting us both up for failure and potential DISASTER with false hair history.
✅Everyone’s hair is DIFFERENT. It is my job to confidently assess your hair’s texture, natural pigment, and, when necessary, provide a strand test to determine it’s reaction to chemical processing. In some cases, it may turn out to not be possible, or a good idea to proceed.
✅TRUST ME. Every client is a walking billboard of my pride - my work. I want to make you happy AND I care about the integrity of your hair. I will never make promises that I cannot keep, and I will always be sure you understand exactly what you’re getting into 🖤
