Two posts in one day? Why not!
Not only have we been working on the inside of the van, but we've been doing a few things outside the van too!
Last night we installed running boards on both sides of the van and they work great and look even better! BUT...the install was easily in the top 5 of most frustrating projects we've worked on yet. The directions were useless and the hardware wasn't the right size for our frame. That meant we had to make some major modifications just to make it possible to install. But we got them in! Install time listed on directions, 2 hours. Actual install time, 7 hours. Seems about right 😅
We've also been considering getting new wheels to help take away from the "cargo look" of the van and make it look a little more like an adventure van. We still aren't sure what we're going to do, so in the meantime we plasti-dipped our factory wheels! We feel like it made a huge difference!
Where to start with this girl? We can definitely say we’ve never had such a derpy puppy. She is smart, fun, funny and OMG so lovable. There is never a dull moment when this #bordercollie is around and we can’t wait to see what the future will bring. Happy 1st Birthday baby Rogue! 🐶🎂❤️🎉

Hello from my tiny house kitchen! I decided I wanted to introduce myself since we’ve reached 800 followers! I’m not sure how many of those are robots, but hey, it’s what we got.
I’m Lexy! Mama to the two munchkins you see most and wife to my hunk of a husband, Matt. We are from Las Vegas, Nevada. We’ve been living in our tiny house since for a year with the exception of the last few months when I moved back home to await the birth of my second child.
Like most of you, me and my family are on a tiny house adventure. It’s funny because I never imagined I’d be here, but I’m so glad I am!
Something straight out of the jungle book. 🍃🐍Normally it’s the ocean that overwhelms and subdues me the most. But it’s always something special when you are humbled by a single organism, such as this 500 year old strangler fig. 🌏🌿

Throw back! Do yourself a favour and take yourself to Kakadu. No one would ever get sick of this view 🙌🏻
We've been sleeping on Instagram lately because we've been hard at work and sweating like crazy in this Summer heat!
Our build is finally coming together and this is where it starts to get fun again! In the past week we've been working on some of the weirdly shaped and difficult trim pieces as well as designing and creating the final details for our kitchen.
We'll post a reveal once it's installed, but for now this is the faucet we bought and the the countertop we are in the process of building. Honestly this faucet is everything. And yes, it has a pull down sprayer 😱
For the countertop we wanted to bring some warmth to the white kitchen cabinetry, and we couldn't find anything we loved so we decided to build our own! We stumbled on a sheet of walnut at our local lumberyard and instantly fell in love. It was only 3/4" thick, but we needed closer to double that for our cooktop so we took a sheet of 3/4" birch and glued it to the walnut! Now we have a solid wood, 1 1/2" walnut countertop! To preserve the natural color and to showcase the grain of this beauty we won't be staining it, we'll just seal it with a zero VOC oil. Can't wait to show you more!!!
I’m visiting the north east and found a very special treasure walking around the forest. I’m wearing a big crown of beautiful chaga. I was introduced to chaga awhile back and it’s truly a gift from nature. Has such a earthy, delicious taste, but more important it has the healing power of the universe. If you’re ever walking around the forest in the northern areas, looking for some funky black/brown knots growing on birch trees.
Why did the bison cross the stream? To get to the other side, of course! Have I mentioned how much I love Wyoming??? Getting to see this up close was mind blowing. Ready to live here (no surprise there).
Purnululu aka The Bungle Bungles...
Wow! The drive in was bumpy BUT it was worth it!
Cathedral Gorge was amazing, the sheer size teamed with the noise of the wind & the kids shrieking was almost a bit overwhelming!
The domes themselves were beautiful! The blue sky back drop made the red tones look spectacular - all of which was lost on the kids who were way to busy talking & making echoes!
It's worth noting the road into the visitor centre - was TERRIBLE! 52kms took over an hour to tackle - I could rant about how interesting it is that the local council can't arrange with land owners a more direct route & grade it - because this is a WORLD HERITAGE SITE but I won't .....

You’re not just gonna wake up one day and be the worlds best artist or writer or photographer. You need to take that shitty photo, paint that un-proportionate painting, write that first page. THEN you need to do it all over again and again and again. Consistency is key. And one day, when you’ve pushed yourself everyday to your max and learned day in and day out, maybe you will be the best.
Ever since our first speakeasy experience in #durango@the_bookcase_and_barber we’ve had an insatiable desire to find more of these #hiddenbars and this one did not disappoint! .
If ever in #bethlehem PA you must try @thebookstorespeakeasy - we almost missed it and that’s part of the fun! This place serves divine cocktails, mouth watering food, has live jazz/blues most nights, the atmosphere is dark and mysterious and the girls are dressed like flappers! So much fun that you would never know about unless someone told you - so consider yourself told. 🥃

Best weekend trip in Australia for wining, dining and sightseeing with your girlfriends? I don't mind flying and it can be anything from big city life to a mountain retreat!
Today, we rent bikes to cruise along the Minnesota countryside at a speed sufficient to outpace the local mosquitoes.⠀
After a few hours biking past lily pad laden lakes, we take a break for ice cream.⠀
It really can be the simple things that count.
Visiting Olympic National Park, there was so much to see and do. But, Day One didn’t start as planned. What were we to do? Would this spoil our time here? Read the full story of #discomfort & #adaptation on the blog today - riskblossoming.com/blog - click over using the link in our profile

My upcoming "milestone birthday" has me thinking about my old belief that certain ages meant I needed to have certain ✨things✨ accomplished - many of which are completely out of my control (marriage, babies, money, owning house/car). I didn't come up with this stuff on my own, I didn't wake up in bed one day and say if I am not a mom by 30 I am failing at life. These "rules" come from the people around me and our culture. .
One reason why my husband and I decided to leave the norm, downsize and disappear from regular society was to figure out what we actually wanted, not what we're taught to want. We've told this to people and it sometimes infuriates them. I am not saying your choices are not your choices - I am simply talking about me. As a child and young adult, I had dreamed up a life based on these rules and one day asked myself, "how do I know if I actually want this or if I want it because I'm supposed to?" I realized that my intuition was getting drowned out by my friends, my coworkers, my family, tv etc. I am hoping that in this more quiet, strange lifestyle we're able to identify what it is that we actually want and associate it with a feeling, instead of a number.
