Here's my top 9 for 2018! Thank you so much for following along and encouraging me in this new hobby! I love learning new crafts and art forms and can't wait to see what 2019 brings!
What do you want to learn how to do in 2019? I'm thinking about embroidery and more painting!
I’m from a small town. Not so small that I know everyone’s name, but small enough that when I tell people where I’m from I have to use big cities in the surrounding area or a Great Lake as reference points. Each September for years we have a small town Sunflower Festival. There’s food, music, and vendor booths. When I jumpstarted my business I knew I needed a big goal. I decided to rent a space at the festival.
I was so nervous about it! How was I going to fill a booth? How was I going to talk to people about my art? Would anyone really buy anything? Lots of questions popped up, but I pressed forward. I made a plan and worked towards it.
I took things that I love, colors and decorating pieces that bring me happiness and put them in my booth. I made a list of ideas for paintings I should work on, and I reached out to other creatives for ideas and support.
The day finally came in September. My mom helped me set up my booth while Jacob watched our kids, and I got to work making my little booth as welcoming as I could.
I said “hi” to so many people that day that my face hurt by the end! I invited people in out of the beating sun. I talked to a little old woman (86 years old) about how she liked my work but had too much “stuff” in her house already 😂. I think we all have those pivotal moments in our lives. A time when we have to push forward, stand still, or back away. Signing up for the sunflower festival was one of those moments for me. Tell me about a time when you followed that thought and made something happen!
The first date Jacob and I went on was actually a double date. It was a jam packed night. We went out to eat, went on a photo scavenger hunt, did ice cream sculptures, and played a round of #letsmakeadate from Who’s Line is it Anyway. It was easily one of the best nights of my sophomore year of college. I like this guy. A Lot!
A couple of weeks later we started dating 🤩 As in boyfriend girlfriend, my ride or die guy, shotgun-seat-holder... That was 10 years ago 😧 I still can’t quite grasp that!
For our 9 year wedding anniversary we painted these bunnies together! We were given the same instructions, we had very different results, but a good time. Jacob says his rabbit looks like it has an ear infection! I refer to Jacob’s as the March Hare (slightly crazy and a bit mangled) and mine as Peter Rabbit’s Mama (a bit more fluffy)
What did you do on your first date with your significant other?
I know these red pickup trucks are everywhere for the holidays, but to me it is a reminder that the best things about the season are really quite simple and don't cost a bunch of money. 🎄
Now. Excuse me while I self indulge for a sec, but I am proud of myself, dang it! Learning something new is hard and takes time, but I'm doing it and I'm loving every second of it. 🎨
If you've been wanting to learn how to watercolor, @letsgomakeart has the best teacher and the best projects ever! I've learned so much and love that I have these awesome finished projects when I'm done with Sarah's lessons (which are FREE on YouTube!). That is all. #letsmakeart

A few weeks ago my friend Tekinah asked if I could instruct her classroom of 24 1st-3rd graders in an art lesson. I had never taught art but it went really well! I loved having the opportunity to expand young people’s minds and help them create something from nothing 😊 🎨 🖌 👩🏻🎨

My first project from @letsgomakeart subscription box. These are free handed florals in watercolor. (The other kits should have something I can trace to follow along.) I feel okay with this for it being my real first time following a watercolor tutorial and everything. 😊 #letsmakeart#subscriptionbox#watercolor
