We were going to Leh city from Kargil and stopped in the middle of nowhere just to experience how magnificent and huge was this place to be here! We stayed there for like an hour but it was all worth the time. This place is indeed the most beautiful spot I had ever been and can never ever be forgotten in my life...
When even after two years you are still not over a trip ...Ladakh is one of those rare destinations which were as poplular even before the emergence of social media and the hype as it is now.what is your favorite mountain destination,do comment below.
Lamayuru is a small village in Ladakh, its located between Leh and Kargil. The landscape here is rather unreal! It has a moonlike landscape, hence this place is also known as the Moonland of Ladahk. Located at a distance of 127km from Leh at a height of 3,510 meters. Lamayuru can easily be covered in a day trip from Leh. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀This place is home to of one of the oldest monastery in Ladakh.
Owing to Its history that dates back to the 11th century, there are many stories attached to it. A scholar named Mahasiddhacharya Naropa laid the foundation stone of this monastery and it is believe that this place was once a lake that dried up because of his prayers. The water receded, and the place started to get moonlike craters. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The easiest and the most comfortable way to visit Lamayuru is by hiring a cab from Leh. Especially in winters!
But in summers, I suggest you take a local bus, its going to take more time but adventure is guaranteed!
