Photo @stephen_matera // Clouds hover around the summit of Mt. Rainier and the Carbon Glacier at sunrise in summer, Mt. Rainier National Park. The Carbon Glacier is located on the north side of Mt. Rainier and terminates at about 3,500 feet above sea level, making it the lowest-elevation glacier in the contiguous United States. At 5.7 miles long, the Carbon glacier also is the longest of any U.S. glacier outside of Alaska.
