Joe watched as the clouds gathered along the mountains on the horizon. It’s always amazing to see how the clouds cling to the mountains. Even when the rest of the sky is blue and cloudless, the peaks seem to produce their own weather.
Remembering outdoor photo legend, Galen Rowell. 🙌
"About fifteen years ago, we lost the great photographer/writer/climber/environmentalist Galen Rowell and his wife Barbara in a plane crash near Bishop, California.
Galen's works inspired several generations of nature and adventure photographers. I feel fortunate to have been able to work with the Rowell's during the mid to late 90's and share numerous memorable adventures with them. On many levels, I found Galen to be a kindred spirit both in the mountains and the arts. This photo was made during an early season ski/climbing trip to Mt. Whitney in 1999. The Rowell's photographs and books can be seen and purchased at their beautiful Mountain Light Gallery which is in Bishop, CA. It's a pleasure to continue to work with Mountain Light, sharing Galen's influence through the ongoing photo workshop program."
