Monday’s at home with just my littlest 🥰🥰 we are loving these stunning board books from @edgarsmission and @affirmpress. I really like that they are photographs rather then illustrations, just to add a different medium to what we normally read. .
There really is nothing cuter then baby animals, well maybe babies reading/playing with baby animals 💕💕
Edgar’s mission is a not for profit farm sanctuary providing haven and lifelong love to farm animals in need. .
“Wonderland is in a BIG mess. It’s dark, it’s dirty and it’s full of plastic rubbish. Alice is the only one who can save Wonderland, but is it too late to reverse the changes and restore Wonderland to it’s original beauty?” My cover and double page spread for the @plum_agency#illustration#competition
Enjoy “Alice in...There’s only ONE-derland”
We already love this duo's version of The Hundred and One Dalmatians and BookBairn enjoys reading them every single night at the moment. It's a brilliant introduction to the story. And this new book takes one of our favourite characters, Cadpig, and one of our most-dreaded, Cruella De Vil. In this story, Cadpig is playing hide-and-seek in the park with her many many brothers and sisters when she runs a little too far and stumbles into the path of the evil Cruella de Vil! Can she find her escape? With wit and humour, this is a fabulous little story! The illustrations are truly wonderful - bright and colourful - and there's a really tiny ladybird hidden on every page too just incase your little ones don't have enough to look at!! This one is getting packed in our flight bag - it may be dinky but it packs a whole lot of story into it's little format! And perfect for packing in a suitcase for holidays!

In preparation for a trip to the beach, we explored this puzzle and the reference guides for a few reasons. One, I want to be more intentional in including Math and Science in our learning. Two, our beach of choice today has more tidal pools than those we usually visit, and I wanted to review the names and types of ocean creatures we might find. Three, the resources lend themselves to creating powerful connections and early literacy development. Identifying a species in the puzzle and then searching to find it's picture in the books creates a link between resources and builds memory. Seeing the images and listening to the description read aloud helps early readers understand how knowledge can grow through an exploration of multiple resources. This develops inquiry skills. You can also point out the table of contents and focus on finding the corresponding number to build awareness of how texts are structured while practicing number skills. 🐚
The ocean was generous today. It was a morning full of love and sunshine. We brought home treasures for our garden, including a skull. Lil B discovered that seaweed can pop and it floats. She learned it's slippery by breaking a fall in classic Lil B style - with her face. She learned she's tough as nails. Big A climbed rocks, asked big questions, and collected a bucket shells and hunks of wood. Already the crafty ideas are flowing ❤
