RECIPE BELOW/GOLDEN BEET & APPLE SUPPORT YOUR LIVER SLAW
I don't know about you guys but I am always looking for ways to support and love my liver. Everyone's liver could probably use a little TLC but if you are living with chronic illness then it is vital to recovering and healing to support your liver and gentle detox pathways. The key word in my vocabulary during this season of my life is gentle. This is important because if you are not used to detoxing then brute force or full on over doing it can be super ineffective. But, by simply adding natural whole foods that are effective in supporting your liver and detox pathways like beets, apples, ginger, garlic, cilantro, parsley, and lemon is a great place to start! I personally love to make a big batch of this slaw and use it to add to my salads or dress up my burgers!. It is light and refreshing and packed with nutrients!
GOLDEN BEET & APPLE SUPPORT YOUR LIVER SLAW
2 large golden beets shredded
2 gala apples shredded
2 lemons juiced and zested
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
3 Tbsp. fresh parsley
3 garlic cloves minced
2 Tbsp. minced ginger
Optional: 1/2 Tbsp. honey
Shred the beets and apples. I used a mandolin slicer and julliened them but you can use a food processor fitted with a shredding blade, or you can use a box grater. Place the shredded beets and apples in a large bowl. zest the lemons, and add it to the bowl. Juice the lemons and add to your slaw. Add the oil, cilantro, parsley, minced ginger, minced garlic and optional honey. Toss the slaw until everything is well combined. This will keep best in the fridge for up to 4 days!

Not my best tonight but it’s done! Between work and kids and extra curricular it’s super easy to get distracted and not take care of ourselves or even have the energy to do so but it’s so important that you do! Even on days where it’s not your best...just show up. Sometimes that has to be enough and just know that tomorrow is a new day!

I was 2 games up and had 2 match balls to finish the match against the world no.55 but one of those days. A little disappointed but I realize it’s the part of the process. Either win or I learned.

All good things take time.
There is no just going from black to white you have to work on all the grey areas in between. My story is far from over. I’ve never been fully honest with myself and everyone in my life until this past year. I started drinking at the very young age of 13, the only time I was ever sober was when I was pregnant 8 years ago and now for the past 60 days. I messed up twice this year but bounced right back and I will not be getting off my road to recovery for anything. Alcoholism unfortunately runs in my family big time and I can’t just drink like a normal person whatsoever, I’ll never know normal and I’m okay with that but I will know sober and be more than okay with never picking up the booze again.
I can stand tall and proudly say I’m a better woman, mother, daughter, friend, girlfriend, hair stylist and all around a happier human. I will continue to do amazing things and every day sober is a true blessing. So much greatness has arose from all the chaos.
