Been a few days since I left Kyoto but I already miss being there. Being able to be there during the Gion Matsuri festival was awesome enough in itself but there's still so much more on offer! From breathtaking sights in the various shrines, temples and districts to geeking out in the pokemon centre, learning kembu and experiencing a cat cafe. Take me back already!
Making friends with deer - beer and deer, exploring the beautiful #miyajima island and trying out the amazing food on offer. The beef buns were amazing! All while being drenched in sweat from insanely high humidity.
• Crop tops (my go to summer tops) in Kyoto's fall heat. I cant wait to go back to Japan, I know we've already been there twice but everyone who knows me well, knows I've been trying to learn the language and move there. Now that we're starting a family, moving there (and wearing crop tops for now) is 100% not an option lol but you'll be seeing our little family back there in the future.
• NOTE: Half of my food photos are from Toronto, while the other half is from NYC (another foodie jungle which we tend to visit every summer), Japan & Montreal. Make sure to check out the locations of any dishes you may see on my page. Happy summer feasting everyone <3
How to get there?
If you look early enough, cheap flights from Taipei to Osaka can be booked for around 150 USD.
The hotels in Osaka are rather expensive, so it's better to stay with friends if you can.
Osaka castle is easily accessible via trains from Osaka and Nara.
The entrance fee is around 500 Yen (5USD).
Afterwards you can go to Nara Deer Park and also have a look at the Japanese shrines nearby.
Dotonbori is best visited at night to make the most of Japan's Neo Lights. The contrast between past and future will be an unforgettable experience.
This makes the perfekt (full program) day trip!
Make sure to visit Osaka castle early in the morning or on weekdays if you can. It's definitely a must see, the castle is quite a spectacle and the inside has been turned into a museum.
Nara deer Park is full of super cute deer that can be fed and pet. If you can also stroll through the alleys you can find near Nara Deer Park, the idyllic streets really invite for an relaxing walk.
Dotonbori is a prime example of Japan's Futurepunk architecture, it's also a stark contrast to the traditional temples and shrines. You must definitely check out the arcades at Dotonbori, games like Densha De Go! Are not widely known outside of Japan but so much fun!
Hello friends! I'm home again. 5 weeks of adventure are behind me. My Japan fever is aroused. I want to see more of this great country! 🥰 In the next weeks I will share some adventures from the last weeks with you. But today is the first turn on the laundry and then sleep against the Jetlag 😴
