Winter poses a strict leash on the weary hiker. Impending darkness looms over, pulling back the sunlight, ever in short supply.
I stalled to watch our bright companion submerge into the cloud banks and over the horizon, as it placed its last kisses on the eastern rift.
The mountain challenged us with stalwart plates of volcanic rock and glass. Its 13-mile trail-less trek across quiet desolation gave a air of sleight, laying before us open fields along the lava shield to hide its coveted molten rock as a dog might hide its a bone.
Still, we walked inland, away from the Hawaiian seas, deeper into the sulfuric fog, relentlessly against the rising heat—our path paved by glassy shards on the mountain side.
The crystal waters of #Yagon are truly breathtaking. This remote #surf#beach and #campground is first come first served, and a pretty bumpy ride in. But with only 30 odd campsites, once you arrive it feels like your own private slice of heaven 🙌🏼
I want to thank everyone that came out to celebrate with us yesterday. This day couldn’t have been more perfect. Me and @kingrezuan are so overwhelmed of all the love and support, Baby Zion is already so loved by all his uncles and aunties that he has around him. And to my amazing family who spent weeks cooking and planning to help put together this special day, thank you from the bottom of my heart, I love you! Thank you @marielayareli for making us this cake out of a dream. We can’t wait to meet our king ❤️ #InTheWild#BabyZion
