We respect runners who push themselves to the limits but could this have been prevented? We think so.
The elastic laces and use of no socks were mentioned in the comments as possible causes. These are sport specific requirements (triathlon) that aren’t readily modifiable.
We’ve chosen to focus on fit. The second image shows an appropriate amount of space we should have at the end of our shoes.
1️⃣ 12mm space around all toes (or a thumb nail width)
2️⃣ Check the liner matches the shape of your foot (no overhang)
3️⃣ Can your toes spread?
If you can ✅ each of these you’re on your way to avoiding toenail damage
