‘I wonder if it hurts them to shed their skins,’ she said. She didn’t feel afraid standing in the darkness, imagining snakes, even with the smell of death in the air.
Bea and Dan, recently married, let out their tiny flat to escape London for a few precious months. Driving down through France they visit Bea’s dropout brother Alex at the hotel he runs in Burgundy. Disturbingly, they find him all alone and the ramshackle hotel deserted, apart from the nest of snakes in the attic.
When Alex and Bea’s parents make a surprise visit Dan can’t understand why Bea is so appalled, or why she’s never wanted him to know them; Liv and Griff Adamson are charming, and rich. They are the richest people he has ever met. Maybe Bea’s ashamed of him, or maybe she regrets the secrets she’s been keeping.
Tragedy strikes suddenly, brutally, and in its aftermath the family is stripped back to its heart, and then its rotten core, and even Bea with all her strength and goodness can’t escape.’ Read a review here: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/mar/01/the-snakes-sadie-jones-review

Revolusi Yang Dikhianati : Sebab-sebab Kebangkrutan Uni Soviet
Penulis: Leon Trotsky

Mengapa Uni Soviet mengalami degenerasi? Apakah benar bahwa sosialisme niscaya menghasilkan kediktatoran stalinisme?
Saya sangat menghargai pemikiran pemikiran Leon Trotsky. Kita hams membacanya, kita hams mempelajannya. -Hugo Chaves, Mantan Presiden Venezuela.
Kaum Marxis revolusioner hams mengakui kenyataan bahwa penikiran Leon Trotsky telah menjadi Iebih relevan ha ini daripada stalinisme dalam memajukan perjuangan proletarian -Baburam Bhattarai.
Spent my birthday surrounded by books 📚 Libreria is one of the coolest little independent bookshops in London, tucked away near Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane, with floor to ceiling shelves of some of the best books around. I've wanted to visit for over a year and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. When I told them it was my birthday they gave me 10% off my books (I ended up buying 6!) ❤

Meet The Happy Medium KIM RUSSO APRIL 4th, 7pm Do you make decisions based on what will please everyone around you ? Or make decisions based on what is expected of you ? If you said yes to either of these questions, then you gave away your soul power. You have given others the authority to make decisions for you and you are most likely following a program that your family has instilled in you from birth - and similarly, their family instilled in them from birth. In my new book “Your Soul Purpose - Learn how to access the Light Within” I help you to identify the areas of your life where you gave away your power to others. When we are not following the blueprint of our soul, this often leads to anxiety, depression and a whole host of other negative emotions.🌸
“Women Who Dared” inspires readers with the stories of 52 courageous women, who made history but are often left out of history books. Learn about many less known but incredible women such as Alia Muhammad Baker and Annie Edson Taylor.
It has been a favourite for our children's book specialists, with Mischa writing "This book is so beautiful and tender. Foxlee explores the complexities of grief and the many dimensions of familial love with a sensitivity and richness that reads like a love letter to humanity. This book taught me so much about empathy and made me feel more human for reading it." #IndieBookAwards19#betterreadkids#bookstagram#books#indiebookstore#supportlocal
One of our favorite new releases this week is a young adult book by @sam_aye_ahm called Internment.
An empowering story of a girl who discovers her voice. Samira Ahmed describes it as a book about the "destructive power of hate. About violent rhetoric and silent complicity." Will you find your voice?
When Eric and Kayla Elefson, the founders of @turtleharefarm, first decided they wanted to become small farmers, they envisioned numerous possibilities of what their farm would look like, letting their imaginations run wild. Though, in all of the iterations of their farm, one concept always stuck: they wanted to share the experience of their farm with their community. They hoped that in the future, guests could come to their farm, stay a few nights, and learn what it means to grow food sustainably in Minnesota. At first, this seemed like a lofty goal, but then they learned about a class at the North House Folk School of Grand Marais, MN, and knew they had their answer... Yurts.
Order or pick up a copy of the Possibility Issue to read about the entire experience of building a yurt at North House Folk School written by Eric Elefson and photographed by both Eric and Kayla Elefson. It’s a story of finding community in making, strength in craft, and accomplishment together. And this just in! It’s a very kid-friendly read! I got a message a few days ago about this story in particular making for some excellent bedtime reading! Yeah, my heart melted.
Wildly grateful to share this lively tale in the Possibility Issue - huge thanks to Eric and Kayla for sharing their farm journey with us! Give them a follow @turtleharefarm 🥕 Also, gorgeous yurt illustration is by our art director @saradellefowler 🌈
Unpopular opinion: I did not like The Last Bookstore.
Popular opinion: V grateful for the aesthetics of The Last Bookstore.
I feel like I like my bookstores smaller, cozier, more welcoming, quieter, comforting — that’s what gives it that curated “indie” feel I love so much. And I just didn’t get that here. I felt anxious, claustrophobic, overwhelmed. My experience at The Last Bookstore is similar to how I felt at Powell’s in Portland. Too big. Too crowded. Too...much. Gahhhh but shouldn’t I feel happy that bookstores like these are getting more popular? Getting more traffic means more people buying books, more people reading!
Idk I’m just gonna sip my tea and retreat into my little corner of Instagram that takes pictures of books and bookstores — AND reads. ☕️

Is there anything better than discovering a new bookshop?
The Second Shelf @secondshelfbooks is a really cute little bookshop tucked away in the streets of London that specialises in books written by women! It had some gorgeous first editions in it and really quirky decor - my kinda place!
Shout out to my beautiful friend Beau @nintenbeau for being my model for this pic.
When you go to a new city do you hunt down the bookshops?
I haven’t really been feeling myself lately so I decided to do something that always makes me feel like myself before my hair appointment — peruse a bookstore. So I decided to head to a used bookstore I’ve always wanted to check out.
Venturing into the world without Riley made me realize how lacking my social skills are as I announce to the (really awesome) guy behind the counter that “I’m not a creeper taking photos of all the books I swear. I just like to take pictures of books for an Instagram I have...about books...because I like books.” Oh god I should just not talk lol. But I am not a confident in-public bookstagrammer especially solo sooooo.
My rusty chattering aside...this trip was great and I found a gem of a used bookstore for all you Philly area people. It was the most organized used bookstore I’ve ever been to with an amazing selection!! Literally just every section was filled to the brim with books I wanted to read or newer releases on my radar. Very clean and bright and airy.
So yeah, it was a good way to spend some rare free time. I hate feeling not very sparkly and excited about much of anything. It’s just not me and I hate feeling like I’m not me right now. I’ve realized it’s really easy for me to get lost in my day to day of motherhood (something that I have enjoyed learning more about myself because of) that I forget what I enjoy and what I need. So, I will just keep on keeping on getting my sparkle back.
Do you have any good used bookstores near you? Do you find book shopping as therapeutic as I do?
