I’ve been talking nonstop about music and life with @oak42tree since we got seated next to each other in Chicago! Naturally, we had to head to the lounge car to jam! Hope you guys enjoy our cover of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” with the scenery of New Mexico in the background. Still can’t believe I just met him yesterday, haha 🚂
We did a strengths assessment at work this week (in prep for a teambuilding we'll be doing soon), and y'all, I think we just about hit the nail on the head.
My top strength: Analytical. Yup, MAJOR math nerd over here!! (Fun fact about me: I actually applied to college as a math major and changed to engineering before even starting)
I love numbers. It's so much easier for me to see things when it's broken down in numbers. It's just something that's always made sense to me!! I really wasn't surprised by that one.
Other top strengths: Focus, Individualization, Discipline, Arranger.
My biggest weakness: Adaptability. Again, not that big of a surprise to me 😂 (I guess I'm pretty self aware??) I am definitely NOT a "go with the flow" type of person. I'm a planner. I live by my Google Calendar. When Bryan tries to change up our schedule mid-week, it makes me anxious. But if it's planned the weekend before, I make the time for it!
We've all got strengths and weaknesses. No one is perfect. And while I'll do what I can to adjust to be more adaptable (or more friendly to new people, another low one), I'd much rather focus on strengthening the skills that I have already developed and have made me good at my job. And if I'm trying focusing on making myself better (which I am), then some of those weaknesses will naturally improve.
So it's okay to know about the negatives, but don't let them dictate how you live your life.
Can anyone relate to my strengths or weaknesses??
Confession - I used to be awful about eating breakfast 🙈
I knew the benefits of eating in the morning but I just ran out of time. Now I drink one of these guys to fill me up and give me the energy I need to have a successful day!!! Plus my blood sugar is AH-MAZIN when I drink it 💕
Today’s cup is Snickerdoodle 😍 A delicious swap and I’m still staying on track!
One of the best parts of my new gig is teaming up with a female-owned manufacturing partner in Asia. The team supporting my project is full of spirited women and respectful men. It’s surprising how less draining these nightly conference calls are and how much more I WANT to work when I don’t have to worry about being heard, having my thoughts taken seriously, or needing to constantly prove I’m competent at my job. One day Silicon Valley will catch up. 👩🏼💻👨🏽💻👩🏻💻👨🏾💻 #womensupportingwomen#mensupportingwomen#dogssupportingwomen
I brought my bro to Nashville with me as one last sibling trip before I moved out of Cincinnati/his basement, and I honestly didn’t expect him to be so down to come with me to every performance venue, listen to music and songwriting podcasts on the drive there, and stay out really late networking with other songwriters. It’s awesome that he really understands what my singer-songwriter life is like now and came to support and film me at my shows in Nashville!
We came back from Nashville yesterday afternoon, and I finished packing, and then we woke up at 4 am this morning to drive 5 hours to Chicago to catch my train this afternoon. It hasn’t really sunken in yet that I won’t be living with my brothers anymore, but I am so grateful for the time I spent in the Midwest and in Nashville. It’s crazy to think of all the things I’ve done these last 4 months: I’ve been to Nashville 5 times, eaten ice cream in the snow, couchsurfed on a stranger’s couch, attended weekly songwriting critiques, learned how to play the ukulele, received a scholarship for a songwriting camp, did my first 30-minute set of original music, and now I’m on a cross-country train ride!
When I felt like my life was falling apart 4 months ago back in LA, my brothers both reached out to me with the opportunity to move with them across the country to get a fresh start. I am forever grateful for the support and love they have given me, and I can’t wait to someday reciprocate that when I become successful. 🥰
Did you know there’s a number with one hundred zeros in it? It’s called googol. It was named in 1920 by a nine year old. Yes, the company “Google” might have been “Googol” if the founders only knew how to spell!
then make lemonade out of those lemons and drink it out of a wine glass 🍷 🍋 When it comes to STEM, I’m of the opinion that if you aren’t failing at some point in your learning process — you aren’t being challenged enough. How do you overcome failures? 👩🏼💻

There is no greater satisfaction than to see our students and future engineers from #VeteransHillElementary and #NorthwestElementary learn the process of design. Operation Bridge Quest is a mission that aims to provide critical thinking skills and problem solving through investigation and research.
No idea how cardi and #STEM are connected but I’m here for it 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 you go dark Betty 🏆

Wow. 2008 to 2018... a lot has changed... though a lot has not! On the left, I am wearing a Periodic Table of Elements t-shirt 👩🏻🔬 and on the right, showing my passion as an engineer working on NASA projects. Besides having better hair and style, a lot HAS changed! I have become a strong, powerful woman who strives to push others to pursue their dreams. My dream was to become a woman leader in the engineering field - I have come a long way, but I am far from done. Way back in 2008, I did not know what I was capable of - being held back by others telling me I was not going to be an amazing scientist or engineer because I was a woman. WELL GUESS WHAT, I AM! .
Big news coming up shortly!!!! I am SO excited to tell you all about it 💯🙌🏻
