We spent last week on our Spring Break and this week it has been hard getting back into the swing of things. I think we did one math lesson and some reading. We are three months until the end of the year and are looking forward to a few guests before then. How do you get out of after vacation slump? Maybe we need an extra week?!

You might be a homeschooler if you off-season vacation and pack “Little House on the Prairie” as your flight entertainment. Ok, I know this could happen even for non-homeschoolers, but, for us, I blame/credit homeschooling!
What other “You might be a homeschooler if...” can we come up with?
Ooh, ooh “You might be a homeschooler if you only go to the dentist when everyone else is at school.” 🙌 #homeschoolingperks
🌅 Expectations vs Reality 🌅 This past week was one of frustration due to unrealistic expectations, as well as unforseen circumstances. I wish I could say that I took it all in stride; I handled it with grace and held my head high. However, that was not the case. 🤦 Instead of finding the blessings, finding the good and the beautiful in it all, I found the negative. ➖ The left behind suitcase ( #thirdchildproblems ), the ill-timed naps, the sickness that greeted us at home, the one page I read of the 4 books I brought ➖ Looking back at the photos, I'm so thankful for technology that allows us to preserve the good memories. 📷 There were SO many more positives! ➕ Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, laughter with family, boat rides and wave rides, great food, rare one-on-one time with my firstborn, beach walks...and the list goes on. ⛵ It is so true that you shouldn't judge someone based on their social media posts. It is generally just a small snapshot of reality. I don't usually post the negative because nobody wants to willingly share their faults with the world, but more importantly, I don't want to dwell on it. So I post the good stuff. The things worth remembering. ❤️
Sleeping in tents, eating outside, campfires, exploring freely in nature, getting dirty - is there anything quite as magical for kids as camping?! 🏕
We just got back from a few days camping in Northern California - exploring the woods and the river and the ocean as well. There are always challenges of course but this was a great time with family and the perfect "field trip" too!

Back to School pictures everywhere. Hehe! Not over here, you won’t find one!! We are beach bound, baby! For about 16 years we vacation as soon as kids go back to school! 😁 And we start back AFTER Labor Day! I will say though that this is the first summer that we haven’t done some school. We usually take advantage of these LONG, hot SC days by getting some school completed. But not this year. And it was nice, but I am looking forward to starting back up, AFTER our much needed and anticipated sun and sand on a not so crowded beach!💙 #homeschoollife#homeschoolvacation 📚 #familyvacation 👨👩👧👨👨👧👦 + 10🙌 #sunandsand#soexcited 😆 #homesteadvacation 🙏🏻
I am taking it back to last spring for my post on things that bring me joy...I mean...look at this.
My kids...having fun. Real fun. Together. If you asked me 10 years ago where I would be, I would never have said in #Yosemite having a blast with just the kids!
Their strength and love of life brings me pure joy 😍
We enjoyed an extended vacation in Winter Park, Colorado to celebrate all of our birthdays (all of us in February!) and it was WONDERFUL to take advantage of weekdays that most families were in school! ❤️ #homeschooladvantage#homeschoolvacation

Today I am super grateful for community, and how God consistently provides over and over again through all the transitions of life!
Also, I just felt the need to share this amazing blast from the past with my constant community, my sibs. #community#homeschoolvacation#yesthatisafannypackimwearing
Happy Winter Solstice Friends! I’m going to be taking a break from this IG account for a few weeks while we’re on “school vacation”. During that time I’ll be reassessing some of what we’ve been doing and re-simplifying. I love the Homeschool IG Community, but all of your fabulous ideas can overwhelm me sometimes. 🤣 I’ll be back! Yuletide Blessing to you all & Merry Christmas! 🎄 #theminimalistschoolstead#homeschoolvacation#minimalisthomeschool#minimalisthomeschooling
We swung down to the Canaveral National Seashore this evening right at sunset to pick up our Junior Ranger booklets for the week. We only had about an hour before the park closed but we had an awesome time checking out Turtle Mound. It was AMAZING - so much fun and really really interesting!! Coolest refuse pile I've ever seen for sure!! 😜

We are learning all about intertidal plants and animals and so we decided why not just take a road trip to the tidepools with friends. I love that we have this freedom and it's so exciting to see what we are learning firsthand out in the fresh ocean breeze. 🌊 🦀🐚🐙
Today's lessons: how to feed horses, how to roast a marshmallow, and how to navigate a corn maze. #homeschoolvacation

We spent some time indoors this afternoon due to a rainstorm, so Harmony had fun making silly sentences. This is the first time she made sentences by spelling words, with a little help from me, of her own volition!
