• “In a hole in the earth lived a hobbit. It was not a bad, dirty and damp hole, full of worms and full of stench, and not even a bare hole, dry and dry, with nothing to sit on or eat: it was a hole-hobbit, that is to say comfortable. " • ☆ J.R.R. Tolkien— Lo Hobbit.
Lately, I've been reflecting on social media a lot and have come to realize that IG no longer sparks joy. Instead, it sparks fomo. Lots of "I wish I could travel the world for a living too," “I wish I were that fit/ pretty/ talented/ creative" etc etc. Now, I am very much aware that I am part of the problem, since my feed is highly curated. So, in an attempt to be more real and honest with y'all and with myself, I'd like to share the befores of this image from Hobbiton. I had very specific shots in mind that I wanted to capture which involve a 🔥 sunset and a clear night sky filled with stars. As the day unfolded, however, it was evident that I was getting neither of those. The weather was gloomy, the sky grey, and it eventually started raining. So I decided to work my PS magic and created my own fiery sunset in post-editing. I always feel a tad guilty when I "enhance" an image even though I think I'm generally pretty open about using PS. Sooo, inspired by @molllified's frequent posting of before & after's, I thought I'd also share what the photo actually looked like before editing, just to bring some (increasingly rare) realness to your newsfeed. If you're still here, thanks for reading my word vomit. You da real mvp 🧡
